Valley of Many Eyes

By gertat, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

How do the Quest only on Valley of many Eyes work?
Quest only. Forced: When you play another card into this zone, discard the top card of your deck. If the printed cost of the discarded card is not odd, destroy the just played card.
With Longbeards you can only play in Battlefield from your hand.
Trollslayers ability only work in Battelfield
But how do Valley of many eyes work?
Can you play it in only Quest zone? Or do the ability only work in Questzone?

Kingdom/Quest/Battlefield Only
Some cards have keyword restrictions that dictate the
zone into which the card can be played (or put into
play). When these cards enter play, they can only do
so in one of the specified zones. Note that this keyword
only restricts the card when it enters play, it can
then be moved (through card effects) to another zone.

Instruction.

Sorry Virgo I dont se that you answered the question (mayby I formulated the question the wrong way)

We understand that the cards that say Battlefield only you only can play in specified zone from your hand. And in future turn move them to a different zone example Longbeards

Try to explain a little better what we mean.

Example:

Trollslayer doesnt say battlefield only. Then we think you can play it in any zone from your hand but dont get the benefit from the effect.

If you play Trollslayer in your battlefield and later move it to another zone you lose its effect.

Same thing with Vile Sorceress below.

In our reasoning how wrong it may be we dont understand how Valley of many eyes work. Because the wording Quest only isnt seperated from the forced effect.

Hopefully I have made my question clearer

If someone moves Valley to other zone than quest it's forced still works.

So your earlyer answer is the right one

All the card with any remark about zone is when played from hand.

When in play they work in any zone

Just a control question

Does it matter what type of effect it is?

Forced? Troll Slayers isnt forced Does it still work when moved.

When a card says "[zone] only" it means that is the only zone where the card is allowed to enter play, no matter if it is played or put into play. Once in play, the card can be moved into different zones without problems.

When a card text is preceded by zone , in italics, that text is only active while the card is in that zone.

Longbeards can only enter play in the battlefield. Valley can only enter play in the quest zone, but if it is later moved to another zone, its Forced effect can still trigger. Troll Slayers can enter play in any zone, but its effect will only be active while in the battlefield.

Thanks both Virgo and Mallumo.

We have played it the right way then.

Good.

I think it is unfortunate that the Devs dont use the same wording on all the cards. But understand that It's hard.

But good that we has played it the right way
