Mummy king card (Bloodmoon Exp.)

By Ico83, in Talisman

Hi all guys,

I have a question for you. I was playing with my friends last night and this card came out.

Instead of fighting the mummy king with craft, I destroyed it with the cross.

In my opinion, I should be able to pick up an object from the discarded Adventure cards, but my friends said no because I didn't win the combat but I just destroyed the mummy.

What do you think about that?

I am sorry for my broken english, but it is not my primary language.

I am sorry, I just noticed I posted in the wrong place :(

Spirit instant killing abilities are not that useful, normally. If this would be forbidden as well, they will be a passive protection with no options.

You surely are allowed to take a prize for defeating an Enemy; destroying it without resorting to combat only implies that you won't take the Enemy as a trophy. The wording of the Mummy King (and of a much older card, the Crypt Keeper) only tells that you have to kill him after encountering him, no matter how the task is accomplished (combat, Spells, special abilities that destroy/kill Spirits automatically). It won't be possible, for example, to remove it from the board with a Destruction Spell and get the extra reward, because the Enemy is not encountered and the card text does not apply.
