100 Points tournament, any Rebel list suggestions

By kgrozema, in X-Wing

I will be playing my firtst tournament next sunday. I just want to play with a rebels list. I've played 2 matches so far and I lost both of them.

I've played:

Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, drawtheir fire

Han Solo, Chewbacca, Marksmanship

My opponent had a Firespray, with shield, 2 Interceptors (Alpha, Soontir Fel).

I think the movement face is very important, to start in a good formation from the beginning and use a lot of fire untill one of the ships is dead. What aregood start formations forthe two builds I've played?

The other thing I have noticed, that its very hard to try to getin a new formation dor a second attempt for fire assault. If you try to do that, those ships are a bit out of play and wille be easily killed by the enemy ships that didn't leave the scrummage. Is this true or a silly analysis?

How important are the astroids your placing before setup?

Are there any Rebel suggestions for a nice list? I like A wings I really like look, but other builds are welcome to. This is what I have. 3X, 1Y, 2A, 1YT-1300

I was thinking about:

Han Solo, marksmanship, chewbacca

Tycho, assault missles

Prototype pilot

Cheers Kris

Your lists are not bad...maybe you need only a little more practice...The only suggestion, if you play the falcon, take the gunner...it's to big on falcon ;)

If your opponent is running 3 ships as the Imperials, a Han Shoots First fleet will be unstoppable.

My version is

Han Solo
+ Expert Handling
+ Millennium Falcon Title
+ Gunner
+ Chewbacca

Expert Handling on a YT-1300 gives you monstrous barrel-rolling capability. Use it to get into Range 1 of your victim, and/or out of firing arcs of his neighbors. The avoidance of target locks is just gravy.
With Han Solo, you've got a pseudo-target lock available on every attack you make, with your 3 attack dice and 360* firing arc. With Gunner, this turns into the following scenario on every attack.

  1. Attack!
  2. If you rolled fewer than 2 hits/crits at Range 2-3, or fewer than 3 at Range 1, Reroll with Han's ability. I would only spend a focus token here if it meant getting full hits (before or after Han's ability).
  3. Defender rolls.
  4. If no damage got through their evasion dice (i.e. they dodged all of your hit results), Gunner triggers.
  5. Attack!
  6. If you rolled fewer than 2 hits/crits at Range 2-3, or fewer than 3 at Range 1, Reroll with Han's ability. Spend a focus if it produces even 1 more damage.
  7. Defender rolls.

Adding to that two more ships with 3 damage on the attack for cleaning up and/or keeping folks from shooting at Han, and you've got a winner.

You almost never want to take a Focus action with this Han. Target Locking is a better offensive action, Evading is particularly necessary given your 1 evasion die, and that Barrel Roll will often result in shooting with more dice and/or out of enemy firing arcs.

Remember that you can wait to use Chewbacca until after you've seen the Crit you're canceling, so he is strictly better than 2 shield upgrades (for the price of 1, at that!).

Thanks for your replies guys.

@ Dracon: I just can't find the rules for the gunner on th Yt-1300, how does it work? Is it an upgrade card?

Gunner is a Crew Member upgrade, and it works just like the Luke Skywalker card, except you don't get the free focus-to-hit-conversion. It costs 5 points, and natively comes from the Slave-1 Expansion Pack.

Specifically, it says: "After you perform an attack that does not hit, you may immediately perform a primary weapon attack. You cannot perform another attack this round."

Oh sorry Dracon, I just found the upgrade gunner card in my Slave 1 box. I didn't unpack it entiarly (just my love for the rebels I didn't do that I guess).

What you discribe in fase 5 and 6 can you do that every turn? So you basicly have 2x 3 attack dice every attack fase because of the gunner?

That barrel roll and millenium Falcon tile is very interesting on Han Solo.

The small tournament went quite well. Played 3 matches, Han Solo with chewbacca, gunner, millin falcon tile, expert handling was assome. I didn't lose it once in three matches. The nacked rookies gotkilled every match.

First matchw as up against Rebel list, x-wing, 2x bwing, y-wing, a-wing. All in the basic form. He managed to kill my two rookies, I killed his rookie and almost a B-wing on 1 hull point. That's why I lost this match 3-0

Second match up against Emperial list, 3 ties academy pilots, howlrunner, thurr phennir al with stealth device. He killed one x wing, but I killed al his ships quite easily. Won 5-0

Thrid match rebel list, wedge, rookie, b-wing, y-wng turrit canon. First I mad some movement mistakes amon the astroids, and where in the way of my own movement and he killed my first rookie easily. After that I did some very good movement with amazing barrel rolls on the Falcon. I had 4 good changes to kill the last wound of wedge. Due to time this just didn't happen and I lost 3-0, otherwise I would have won 3-0

So I really like the Han Solo list, learned a lot about movement, the gunner and expert handling with Han Solo is realy nice and fun. I will try to tweak this list with two A wings with some nice upgrades.
