So it switches one hit result to a focus when defending.
But if the attacker has a Focus, it will just convert back to a hit right?
So it only really works when the attacker is not using a focus?

Basically, or it forces opponent to spend Focus for attack and not save it for defending. Really a just minor annoyance against most lists.
Ok. Just checking. I had never played against them before until tonight. We played them right.
Thanks,
It's surprisingly potent, actually. By emphasizing the need to spend focus tokens offensively by converting what would be a hit to a hit anyway, it either removes one hit, or the entire defensive focus. It's a sly one, but a little overcosted at 4, I think.
also keeps them from taking evades to get away from tens ability and autoblaster. in the right combo of ships it can be good.
Quite potent indeed, I have a 3 B-wing squad - all Blues with HLC and Sensor Jammers, and it can be pretty lethal.
One thing worth mentioning that I didn't think about at first, when it comes to timing:
If your opponent doesn't roll any hits on the initial roll, then uses an effect to re-roll dice and gets 1 or more hits, you cannot then change one of those hits to an eye result. Your ability to change the result happens before your opponent, so you have lost your chance. Not typically an issue, but hopefully worth mentioning ![]()
Thanks guys.
we misplayed this card at a tournament today. this is one of the few (only?) cards that triggers after an attacking player rolls their red dice. defender gets to switch one hit to a focus and then the attacker has to decide whether to use a focus or not to switch it back. pretty handy actually as mentioned above it forces the attacking player to make a tough decision - burn the focus on attack now or wait and use it on defense.
If it works once its better than the shield upgrade. If it works twice, it has paid itself off twice. The the havoc you wreck on the offensive side when they have no focus. Its powerful when used right.
