I wanted a ship, a fast ship, that could surprise big, mean ships if it needed to, support in combat if necessary, but be an alright explorer.

I left some room so that I could install a Teleportarium in the future, if I stumble across one. And I'm looking to get some Good Starcharts as soon as I can. Maybe even a Runecaster.

It's sneaky (I think) and can launch 4 torpedoes and 2 squadrons on a Transport hull. That's gotta count for something right?

I'm sure I did something wrong, so please correct me.

The Orion is probably my favorite ship for starting RTs. It is inexpensive and has the performance of a raider and the space of a transport. There are a few issues with your build.

First, this is a Star CLIPPER, not CRUISER. It is a Transport class ships. So it can't mount Cruiser only components. This means it has 1 void shield.

The Modified Drive raises your speed, so your ship should have speed 11.

For weapon batteries, I recomend taking -1 crit for your good advantage (or taking best for 1 more SP and getting +1 range too). You aren't going to hurt much with one weapon battery very often, so maximize your crits to weaken your opponents faster.

You gave up your cargo hold for a landing bay, so where are you going to carry cargo (and loot)?

You should look into a W-240 Passive Auger Array. Being able to look around while silent running is very useful, especially with your fighters and torpedoes. It has the same power as your M-100, so it is a straight trade.

If this is your starting ship, you are going to have a PF of around 44. That isn't going to be enough to keep up with your fighter/bomber losses and torpedo purchases. This build is pretty expensive to run. The torpedos are going to be a aquisition test of -10 to fully reload (-10 for Rare, -10 torpedo not on forge world, +10 for between 6-30 torpedos). That isn't the bad part. A fighter or bomber squadron is a -30 Aquisition just for the vehicles (-30 for ER,-10 for vehicle, x30/20). That technically is just the fighters. The GM might let you buy them that way as replacements, based on your ship constantly training new pilots. I would allow some replacements like that. If you take a lot of losses, the GM might make you buy them as a combat unit (Battlefleet Koronus rules). That is going to be a -50 Aquisition for a squadron (ER for Air, -20 for heavy, -10 for Imperial tech, +10 for x20/30). The torpedo costs you can survive, and even afford to buy a couple of Melta Torpedos for special occasions. The fighters and bombers are going to get stripped away pretty quickly. I recomend for new groups to avoid carriers until they can have a good chance to be able to replace them.

Thanks, WilliamAsher.

The "Cruiser" was more of a question since it seemed to a newb to be somewhat versatile. I didn't know anything about the logistics of it all, it just makes me want to give it a shot all the more.

Which book has the passive augur? I don't have a full collection.

I can move some of the Good bonuses around to have enough room for a second Main Cargo Hold. It means I won't have space for a Teleportarium later on, but that appeals to me too.

The W-240 Passive Augur is located in Hostile Acquisitions pg. 71.

Took another whack at it. Went for a more general route here.

I don't have Hostile Acquisitions, but this should do the trick for now.

The Archeotech Jovian plasma drive will come from the background. And the Starchart

seems like something I can RP as the RT having.

With a Competent Crew it's 45 SP. With a Veteran Crew it's 60.
