Sense of Scale

I am a bit confused as to what passes for a large ship in this game.

The largest dimensions of some of the ships:

Falcon - 34m (Large)

HWK-290 - 29m (Small)

Salve-I - 21.5m (Large)

Lambda - 20m (Large)

HWK-290 - 29m (Small)

The HWK-290 isn't that big, it's only like 16.5m. The size was reported to be 29m in some places but that value is way off if you look at the ship in some of the movies from the video game.

Generally it seems anything 20m or bigger is a Large ship, but actually they're now calling them Medium sized, with the CR-90 and Transport being the Large ships.

My HWK actually looks quite a bit smaller than my Falcon, Firespray and Shuttle.

Your information regarding the HWK is correct. However, the term for the Falcon, Firespray, and Shuttle is still "Large ship." That is what ALL game documents and cards refer to them as.

The closest thing we have to an official document regarding the Transport and Blockade Runner is the website announcement, which calls them "Huge" ships.

There has never been a "Medium" ship in this game. I think thats important to point out since there are rules distinctions based on these terms.

I thought they were going to change the terms. But perhaps if they call the CR-90 huge then there's no reason to change the term for the Falcon and others.

Your value for HWK-290 is wrong, there has been tonnes of discussion, but based on in game graphics which I feel is the only reasonable measure for a ship that was created for a game. It is not that big.

Not true. The rules sheets for Slave-I, Falcon and Lambda all spell out the fact they are Large ships.

I knew there was some discussion about the length. Apparently someone confirmed a 16.5m length with Lucasfilms.

Late to the party on this one, I guess.

Yeah, and the stupid part is the monkeys over at Wookiepedia keep changing it back to 29 meters whenever someone corrects it to 17, so the confusion remains.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I tried to change it to 16.5 meters and had it change back. I got a message from someone on at the time that I needed to source my changes. So I hit em with the official HWK-290 announcement and 2 reports that the developers stated the length at 16.5 meters. I then made the changes again and sourced FFG announcement for the HWK-290 and I think I got it to stick.

Do you think we could get them to change it to a courier rather than freighter.. and it carries 6 people or 75 tonnes?. It can hardly fit 2 people comfortably.. and 75 tonnes is about the same as a YT-1300.

I don't know about courier as a class as I don't know what qualifies it for either class.

It also says in the write up that it can carry 75 tonnes but in the ship stats it can carry 150 tonnes. I don't want to go sourcing for those changes to stick. Maybe an updated source will have all the correct stats on this ship, but I'm just happy I got the 16.5 meters to stick.

to get back to the original question, it's the size of base that determines the scale of ship :)

Sounds like the TIE Defender stats that keep changing over there.

Oh well, I tried. My sourcing is still on the page but someone changed it back to 29 meters.
