Has anybody used the various explosion tokens out there? I think it would make gameplay easier and more cinematic if damage tokens/counters could be placed on the model or flight peg. So far the two best I've seen are from Litko ( http://www.litko.net/products/Flight-Peg-Indicator-Set.html#.Uo3McryE5u0 ) and Pyrkol ( https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=605934289450030&set=pb.605933216116804.-2207520000.1385078401.&type=3&theater ). Thoughts?
Explosion Tokens
I like it. I don't like how much stuff is posted "near" the ships, while on the pegs is an unused resources at the moment.
Those are good for Wings of Glory.. the attachment place is too big for X-wing.. but I may get some for WoG.. they are very cool.. the pyrkol ones that is..
Litco sells a small orange 'blast' marker that I have used fur fun on a table for X-wing.. but as a practical use for the game, it's not really needed.. a fun idea though..
I can already think of a slightly better design. I'm going to see Adam this weekend. I'll talk with him about something.
Would be cute to signify ships with hull/critical damage
Right, I thought one color for hits and another color for crits. Or smoke and flames. Though the nerd in me says there can't be any smoke in space. So orange (crit) and yellow (hit) flames maybe.
And, while I'm on it, a blue burt or jagged 'flame' of sparks for ion hits would be neat.
No flames in space either if you wanna get technical... but that never stops the movie makers.. lol

For the love of all that is shiny, don't bring physics and logic into Star Wars. That way lies madness.

Bwahahahahahahaha... i taunt you again with real science... muahahahahaha
I don't know if there are explosions in space in our universe, but I'm 100% certain they have them in the Star Wars universe, along with faster-than-light travel and a bunch of other cool stuff.
The game already has critical hit tokens, so we use those for critical hits. When a ship explodes, we put a couple of face-down damage cards on the table. Looks kind of like an explosion. Then we clear it away at the end of the round.
but... you can have flames and smoke in space, so long as there's a source of fuel and oxidizer in sufficient concentration to react before it diffuses, and smoke would more or less be a very dense cloud of particulate dust/combustion products venting out into space.. it wouldn't leave a trail, so much as a diffusing jet...
-Fires and smoke in microgravity environments really, really suck too.. just ask the MIR cosmonauts, and Jerry Linenger..
Edit: Corrected the astronaut's name: Foale was aboard MIR during the later incident where a cargo capsule under manual control rammed one of the station modules. Fun times.

indeed..
Right, I justwent with the idea that the flames woudn't last per se but they'd be there as long as the fuel source allowed. And c'mon, gotta have some bangs goin on.

We do the face-down damage cards for exploded ships trick too.
Just kind of helps spice things up, a little bit. Adds some extra visual interest.
