A question about movement

By kaiteinomen, in Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition

Hello,everyone.

I have an easy question, but it confused me.

Can I move through a system twice during a tactical action or transfer action?

For example, supposing there are three systems in a row, named A,B,and C. Once the B has been activated, can I move a ship(regardless of its MVMT.) from the A,and move like A-->B-->C-->B?

Thanks!

refer to page 13 of main rule book.....

and answear is yeas but your not alowed to pick up units from systems that are already activated .

Eks. 3 systems A B C whic is all in a straight line to each other. system B is already activated you can fly from A to C and stil pass true B system. but you not to pick up units/leaders at B system

Thanks!

So,in theory,I may move just like A-->B-->C-->B-->D-->B (B is the end of movement, regardless of MVMT.), passing a system twice,or more in an action . Right?

Actually a slight correction to that - what it says is you cannot pick up units from a system that was activated PRIOR TO THE CURRENCT ACTIVATION.

IE, if you activate System B, it's perfectly legal to move from A to B, pick up units on one planet in B, and land them on another planet in B in the same activation.

I think the longest "movement" i can envision is 5 systems, though, like an A->B->C->B->D->B: A cruiser starting in a High Alert Token system with Flank Speed and Type IV Drive. Why you'd want to DO it that way is beyond me, though :)

Thank you!

I just want to know whether fleets can move through a system twice in one action in theory or not. The salesclerk who sold TI to me explained the rule (he explained that fleets may not move through a system twice or more in one action). But I read the rule book and FAQ,and didn't find it. sad.gif

By the way,if I activate system B now,can I move my carrier from B to A,pick up units in the A,and back to B in one action?

Yes. happy.gif

Are you sure about that...don't the rulebook nearby, but pretty sure that's not allowed, unless it was errata'ed...

It is allowed, as clarified in the FAQ , page 4, first question under Movement:

Q: When I activate a system (with a Tactical Action), can I
move units out of that system and then back in, assuming they
have enough movement? For example, can I move a carrier
out one hex, pick up some Ground Forces, and move back into
the system I’ve just activated?
A: Yes. The rules state that a ship may move out of a system
as long as it does not contain a friendly Command Counter
placed prior to the current activation (page 11).

kaiteinomen - The sales clerk was unfortunately wrong in that case. As mentioned, there just is no rule that prohbitis that. In fact, if you hade enough movement, you could activate D, and do an A->B->C->B->D, even if B *WAS* already activated. Activated systems don't prohibit movement (though you couldn't pick up GFs if B was activated prior to this movement).

Also, as mentioned, activating a system doesn't "lock down" the ships in it until the action is over. It's PREVIOUSLY activated systems that are locked down, as the FAQ entry says (though the rule is also in the rulebook, just a little more obscure). So if you activate A, you could move ships out of A, then back in, as long as they have enough movement.

These answers are clear! Thank you!!
