Faramir in a solo deck

By camacazio, in Strategy and deck-building

Has anybody been able to construct a solo deck that made good use of Faramir? I've toyed around with some ideas, but it keeps seeming far superior to make a leadership/lore ranger deck with Faramir as an ally and leadership Aragorn as a hero. I want to make hero Faramir work, but honestly it seems the problem is his starting threat, which feels far too high to go with his ability, and no good way to give him extra actions.

I can't get him to work solo. Would love to see a deck he could work in. His starting threat kills the card, and his ability i not that great. It's unfortunate after all the wait he is pretty much a coaster with nice art for the solo player.

I had some success with a Beregond, Glorfindel (sp), Faramir deck. Giving him access to Hands Upon the Bow and Great Yew Bow can take out enemies in the staging area while Ranger Spikes and Black Arrow can make him hit for double digits. Unexpected Courages always went on Faramir.

I also tried a similar approach using mono lore (Denethor and Mirlonde), but then you need to include songs and minstrels, which get in the way of more useful cards.

Granted, I probably would have done just as well or better if I replaced him with Loragorn, but it worked out pretty well.

Hmm... potentially Faramir, Bifur, Glorfy, and some songs of battle could make this work... it's a shame, not being able to get Fresh Tracks in the mix.

Yea, Faramir's threat is counter-intuitive to his ability. Also, to make the most of his ability, he really needs to be in multiplayer where enemies can pile up better. It's not easy, but Faramir can actually be used to pretty good effect, especially with Fresh Tracks and Ranger Spikes.

I have done a lore mono deck with him, Mirlonde and Pippin that can work against some scenarios. I make sure to have Rivendell Minstrell, Song of Battle, Hands Upon the Bow and Great Yew Bow in there.

my deck Aragorn lore, faramir and Glorifindel spirit is quite good. Faramir doing good job and he is 5 hit points what is important for solo deck.

Would you mind posting the deck, Glaurung? Does it use traps and all that? Do you even get to use Faramir's ability? It sounds interesting...

I don't have a deck list but you can see my video against BOG scenario. IS the same deck only i take out Faramir for Denethor since you cannot use Faramir as a hero in this quest.

Yes sometimes use his ability but mostly in BR scenarios. There he can be really good.

Hmm, interesting Beorn, Mono lore rangers successfully done? I want to see that! But so far I've tried Glaurung's deck with Strider, Glorfindel and Faramir, and it performs really well!

Okay, I have taken on the Faramir solo deck challenge. I put together the following deck that I am pretty pleased with, and I am having a good time playing. My initial attempts of working with Faramir wanted to have him in a low threat deck where he could pick of enemies in the staging area with Great Yew Bow, but this deck can not keep threat low enough for that strategy, so I figured his ability would be better in normal attack situations with Glorfindel while having a strong defender like Beregond.

Strategy:

Master of the forge is essential for getting your attachments he is the cars to have in the opening hand. I think the deck is pretty self explanatory. Song of wisdom is really critical and the first copy goes to Beregond first copy of UC also goes to him as well, slap a Burning Brand on him and he is pretty much invincible., second UC goes to Faramir and he will be your main quester and will not do much else until he gets it. LoV is also as always important early on, but especially in this deck. PoL should go to either Glorfindel or Faramir, and it will help with questing. If a quest has treachery cards that are will destroy 1 hp allies, don't have more than one Silvan Refugee in play at a time or Master of the Forge. Losing all of them in one go will be tough. I can usually get a pretty nice loop mid to late game where Enemies in Ranger traps are being removed by ranger bow, Anborn fetches the trap and then it is set again in the planning phase. Rinse and repeat round after round.

I'm warming up to Faramir a bit. I would have loved to have a low threat spirit ranger hero instead of Glorfindel, Instead we got Caldara which I cannot complain about anymore since I have found she is pretty awesome, but I don't see her or Eleanor working in this deck.
