Modules..

By Kager, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I hope there are going to be more published modules coming down the pipe. Has FFG given us any idea when more will be released, or is it going to be mostly sourcebooks?

No adventures after Beyond the Rim have been announced at this point, but there's no way to know what FFG has up their sleeve until they choose to release information about it.

I thought 'Beyond the Rim' was very good, so hopefully they will release others in a similar format and of similar quality.

I thought the premade adventures were the best part of Warhammer 3 to be honest.

I wouldn't be surprised if the splat books came with modules in them. So far both beta core rule books, the GM screen, and the EotE core rule book all included adventures.

Good point. But the only ones I felt were really outstanding were 'Long Arm of the Hutt' and 'Beyond the Rim'. And the one that came with the GM screen was pretty good.

Same thing with D6 - WEG had some brilliant canned games. Shantipole, Tatooine Manhunt, Black Ice, Starfall - some exciting early games from the House of End of West.

My table had a blast with "Debts to Pay" from the GM Kit. I'm in the middle of getting Beyond The Rim going but I'm working my way there via some heavily modified versions of adventures from the Order 66 guys.

I mostly wanted to chime in to agree about Warhammer. The number and quality of adventures for that line was pretty great. I wish they'd make a couple more Enemy Within size box sets. Hopefully Star Wars follows that model just with more output.

+1 on that, the Warhammer ones I've read so far are great. Not that I ever got to play the game, but they are great resources.

Beyond the Rim is very good. The only part I have trouble with is the competitive Rodians…they seem like their only real purpose is to provide that "two guys burst through the door, guns blazing" thing that Raymond Chandler talked about. So I might revised their role and purpose.

how ive made my games work is take all the narative points from WEG and WIzards and build the game from there make changes/notes where needed and it ends up being a decent way to make a game.

also just spending a few hours a week thinking about your game and writing it down in a notebook through the day is a good way to make a game work as well be your own story maker and include your players.

Is it hard to convert the old WEG modules to EoE? I never played WEG, but I've heard good things about Tattooine Manhunt and Politics of Contraband.

I'm interested in converting the crunch to fit the system and the narrative to better fit the setting.

There's an entire campaign, called Hutt Inc, available from the GSA. The first one is at http://gsa.thegamernation.org/2013/07/22/the-miracle-parsec/ The other Hutt Inc modules are there: Jim Henson's Scum and Villainy Babies, and the Two Arenas: Council Dome and Two Arenas: Pitann Piledriver. Enjoy.

Thanks for the link. I am converting Darkstryder just because I always wanted to play it and never had time. Now I have a little time and with the release of http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=4312 I'm going to geek out and buy that ship for no good reason.

While this thread is a bit old, the Jewel of Yavin is also coming down the pipe too...

I really wish I had the Jewel of Yavin because guess where my players are going next session? Of course there are alternative ways to get information on Cloud City, so it's not that much of a need.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like there are a ton of "official" adventure modules planned to be released by FFG. I've heard good things about Beyond The Rim (though I've been avoiding reading reviews that might contain spoilers), and Jewel of Yavin sounds pretty cool. But at some point, you're going to have to rely on user created content, either your own or someone else's.

You can let them know your feelings on the subject, I'm sure they appreciate and form data points on constructive feedback.

I too want more modules, the ones I've played have been outstandingly produced and fun to play

I'm sure FFG has at least another one or two in the pipeline. After taht it'll be up to the fan-base and how well received/profitable previous modules have been.

Also note that modules can be given away for free as a PDF (Black Sun, and Long Arm) because they classify as marketing materials (which bypasses the electronic game restriction). So there's decent odds we'll see at least a couple PDF modules with each rulebook/starter set release....
