World's Builds

By topgunkos, in X-Wing

Could people who know post the top 8 builds at this years World's? It would be very interesting to see what the meta is at the moment.

The lists were posted on a previous thread link attached.

The thing thats stands out to me is the lack of upgrades played.

if u ignore the bomber list (which relies on upgrades from missiles for a powerful alpha strike)

on average there are about 2 upgrades per list.

some run none, a few run 3 (Han shoots 1st, luke + 3 X-Wings)

2 out of 8 top8 squads were tie-swarms.

The thing thats stands out to me is the lack of upgrades played.

It makes sense. 12 points in upgrades is another TIE which is probably going to have more effect. It's all about being able to deliver shots.

Look how many X-Wings there are. :)

It'd be cool to know how many TIE swarms there were at the start of the event. If 25% of the players brought a swarm and 25% of them made the top 8, that only says that swarms are popular and viable, but not exactly dominant. But if 40% of the players brought a swarm and only 25% made the top 8, non-swarms might be doing better than we think.

The good news is that it appears you can run any of a half-dozen basic types of squads and do well with them.
