Alright, I admit I'm fairly new to the game, but I have to ask what the advantage of using a Y-Wing over a B-Wing is besides cost. I mean they have less firepower, and less maneuverability, and shields are clearly better than more armor. Are there any really dedicated Y-Wing users who could give me some tips on implementing them effectively?

Also, why is it that Horton Salm and Dutch Vander can't use Elite Talents? It seems like a real oversight that they aren't allowed and that there's no Y-Wing pilots that can use them.

Yes: turret. Ion turrets are great at controlling your enemies movement.

Ill start with the obvious: Upgrades. No Astromech or 360* Turrets on B-Wings, which can be really important to a build.

Then, theres obviously the Unique Pilot Skills that are available on the Ys only. Ys and Bs perfrom similar but different functions in a list.

Something that I should point out is they have incredibly different movement dials. B-Wings are far more nimble, but can't move very far, where the Y-Wing isn't great for tight turns but can really move. Depending on how you fly and what your opponent brings to the table, both can be valuable.

Y-Wings are support ships whereas B-Wings are more heavy hitters.

Also I would be shocked if Y-wing didn't get bombs added by way of non unique title down the road.

Also yeah, I'm just as surprised that they didn't make a more bomber load out for the Y-Wing as well, because there are plenty of EU materials and games that have them with proton bombs.

I all but guarantee they'll add it as a modification (Bomb Rack) or generic Y-wing title down the road.

The old is y wings broken debate, yeah sure they are, but all ships are broken somehow. But thats part of the enjoyment of finding a way to make them work.

Or until new cards come out that breathe some new life into them...

Look at the Rebel Convoy list making the rounds right now; 2x Y-Wing with Ion, 2x Outer Rim Smuggler. Huge board control build for blocking the other player, taking away his actions, and tying his ships up while you whittle them down. It's not pretty but it can be extremely effective.

How long have we been saying a new card has to be developed. Most of the other ships can make use of the cool toys wave three has given us, but not the y wing still broken.

Well they got a cheap turret option and Advanced Proton Torpedoes from wave 3.

I wouldn't call the Y-wing broken at all.. challenging to effectively employ, maybe, but not broken. With the torps, turrets, and droid, they can be pretty flexible.. and they're remarkably resilient and Dutch and Horton have some pretty slick abilities. Just a question of figuring out what one can and can't do with them

And I think that almost kind of works for it, since it's supposed to be kind of an old, worn down workhorse of a ship by the time of the Battle of Yavin. They're tough, they're flexible, they're not nearly as slow and clumsy as they're perceived to be, they really are just a solid workhorse, and while I'm all for them continuing to get expanded with new pilots and weapons and upgrades or whatever down the road, I think being the workhorse without a lot of flash fits it pretty well.
