Had a situation where a guy used "Closed Account" while I had "Compromised Employee" out. If he then plays "Midseason Replacements", "Invasion of Privacy", or any other card with a trace effect, do I have no credits to stop the trace, even the credits from "Compromised Employee"?

I would say that recurring credits are NOT in your credit pool, as you cannot spend them like normal credits.
Agreed. The rules state that recurring credits return to host card at the start of your turn; ergo they are hosted and not part of the pool.
they are not in your pool. the same way you can't lose Whizzard's trash credits or NBN's trace credits.
In your example, the Compromised Employee credit(s) are available for the trace, even if your accounts have been closed.
