Some (sort of) random praise

By DanteRotterdam, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I am extremely thankful for what FFG has done with Edge of the Empire. It has rekindled an interest in both roleplaying and Star Wars that had been sorely missing for a few years.

I didn’t stop roleplaying in those years and we still have a 4th edition campaign that is ongoing and a Call of Cthulhu game that is starting again pretty soon, but it has been ages since I have been this excited about any game system ever.

The book hits all the right notes, the starter game was ridiculously immersive, the artwork is amazing and I have logged the Rulebook (and I think we can all agree it is heavy) with me in my backpack for months now, browsing through it every chance I get.

I’ve rewatched all the movies (some twice) picked up again in season 3 of the Clone Wars and am listening to both the Order 66 podcasts and Heir of the Empire...

Thank you FFG for making a 38 year old as happy as a kid again! I will buy every single book you release in this series as well as the other 2 SW games.

Hear hear!

(and seconded! for the most part, this is the only rpg running in my network of friends... but rekindling of rpg passion indeed!)

I'm a 44 year old woman, and heck, it rekindled that on/off love affair I have with SW. A bit like D&D - other games interest me, but I always seem to go back to that one.

I've even learned some things about the EU that I actually quite like, thanks to some of the more helpful posters here. At my age I'm more interested in making my own game than reading about 'canon', but I've learned its not all bad.

And yes, there's no other company I'd want doing this rather than FFG. Take my money!

I concur with the above! Well done FFG!

I too have a rekindled love of all that is SW and RPing it up! Have develed more into the EU and even picked up the collectors addition of The Clone Wars Animated Series. While I see how the series bothered some, I really enjoyed it for what it was and really hopeful for the Rebel series coming out.

I can remember Star Wars because it was force fed to me when I was younger. I think my dad wanted to make sure I saw it while I could. I don't really think I had any kind of love for it, though. EotE changed that for me. So while you're all mentioning how your interest in Star Wars has been reawakened by EotE, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I may have been aware of Star Wars before, but my mind has been opened wide to the wonders of the Star Wars universe for the first time by EotE!!!

I'll bet that counts for some kind of praise, too! :)

I've always been a Star Wars nut, but most of my friends aren't. I have to say this game sparked some interest, especially since I've veered it to a darker more gritty tone: more like E4 and some of the darker TCW, less like E6 which everybody seems to remember and despise.

People despise Return of the Jedi now? Seriously?

It might be the weakest of the original trilogy but it is still 2 hours of movie magic as far as I'm concerned and I enjoy every minute (Ewoks included) of it.

Gotta jump in the Mosh Pit of Praise. :D

This game, both aesthetically and mechanically, has me more excited about tabletop Star Wars rping than I've been since I got into D6 in '92. As a SW fan since 1977, I can recognize the love comin' outta these books...

I'll jump on the dog pile, as well. Like many of us the world over, I've been a lifelong fan (36 years old, now). This new iteration is by far one of the most innovative and accessible systems I've seen in my twenty +/- years of tabletopping, and they couldn't have chosen a more appropriate IP to dress it up in.

My players are really getting into the narrative play, and their eyes are getting wider with every idea. "Can I...?" "Yes, and..."

Their horizons are broadening with every session, and we haven't even moved passed the BGame Pre-gens.

What a wonderful way to re-awaken both a childhood nostalgia (most of my group are in the 30+ crowd) and re-connect with a child-like wonder and view of the world where anything is possible and we make our own epic movies.

Thank-you, FFG, and as always, Thanks George Lucas.
