Well, I think there will be some meta shifts post worlds. With the Falcon being less popular, I see people reaching for their Interceptors again. And with the Aces pack either giving them more survivability or offense, Interceptors will see a bit more use. And I do think it is unrealistic to expect a pack like Imperial Aces to shift the meta. Let's save those meta shifts for Waves.
Lack of Tie Interceptors at Nationals
This is a very viable "Interceptor" build and is pretty good at minimizing the glass until you can get in close and stay out of arcs.
Hopefully we will see more use of interceptors. I ran some the other nit for fun and was reminded of why I don't do it. Three hits on soontir and I rolled five blanks. Given that I did kill a shuttle in one round of shooting I still had fun. As for changing the meta we were told by a play tester at worlds that wave four will be a big shift. To bad we couldn't get any details out of him.
Grr, at this point, I would prefer FFG just to show us the Wave 4 ships, without a release date (like the Transport and Corvette).
Still, I see Interceptors being quite useful. And again, those one shot loaded up Fel's have been a major reason I've been hesitant to run him. I've had some success with the Alphas as support for my big Firespray cannon.
No Ints at Nationals?
I was going to run 5 Ints at our last local tournament but went with 7 academy and DC instead. next time it will be the Ints.
It has been difficult for me to run my Interceptors when I could reasonably expect to face YT-1300s, where maneuverability didn't factor in. While it's not a complete shift, the rise of the B-Wings has really given me inspiration to run Interceptors again. I think the big dilemma for me is whether to run the lower PS Interceptors or ones with PtL, seeing as it makes the squints shine.
I recently have been running this.
It is remarkably effective. Took out 3 B's with HLC and 2 Firesprays.
I was thinking about something along that line too. Vader and Daredevil seems to fit my playstyle perfectly. Only, I wouldn't put Shield on Soontir. Rather, I will give him a Stealth Device; PtL ensures that I can put down a evade everytime I need it and still do something else.
Same for Turr, Stealth rather than Shield, and PtL instead of VI.
Given, the shield is 100% reliable, you can take 1 more point of damage. SD on the other hand will give you the chance to avoid several damage points; when using SD I always try to put PtL on too, that EPT is extremly cheap for what it does.
As soon as I get my Vader I will run that list. It will be a very hard fight and the slightest mistake on my side will put me out of the game, I know that much. Still, I like the idea of all that extra movement, sliding around, slipping out of enemy firearcs.

I don't get it. 5 Avenger TIE-Is pack one hell of a punch. Or switch two for a screen of 3 Obsidian TIEs. Looking at what builds often take these days, the PS3 comes in handy for the first-in-the-round-shooting.
It's not about completely rewriting the meta. It's about giving them more tools. They'll get some cool new named pilots. Maybe some interesting generic, dunno. The RG title letting them take double mods is great - Target Lock + Focus will make Interceptor guns quite deadly. The fact they can do so AND upgrade shields or hull - or forgo the computer in favor of adding a couple of hits worth of survival in shields + hull, just adds a ton of options to them.
They're unrealistic expectations actually. No one is going to take Hull + Shields for double mods. That's +7 points to something that's already considered overpriced. It's a unnesscary upgrade, and no one with cost-effectiveness in mind will take that kind of upgrade.
I understand the concept of adding tools for sure. I'm all for adding player options to the game! However, the options that are added this upcoming expansion will not make them fare any better vs. the current metagame.
I don't agree with this at all. No other ship has 3 agi and 1shield4hull stats, it allow you to survive even an all blank evade roll from a HLC, it removes the glass from the cannons. The amount of maneuverability 3 small ships have can out perform many other builds, cannons aside.

The other option might be Stealth Device, Shield Upgrade, Ellusiveness. That could make them very hard to take down.

You don't agree with it? +3 points from PTL gives you a focus and evade for defense, it comes out almost the same vs. +7 points from Shield and Hull. lol
