Great Unclean One for Large Scale Warfare

By Sebastian Yorke, in Rogue Trader Gamemasters

Hello all,

How would you count a single great unclean one for Large Scale Warfare? (Battlefleet Koronus mass combat rules)

I did it like 15 Power, 5 Strength. But I am not sure... Hmm

Comparing it with a Warhound in pg 124, the great unclean one is powerless. Is that right?

Hmm....

Greater daemons are very variable in the narrative, but I would expect a titan - even a scout titan - to bring one down without it being surprised, subjected to warp trickery, or similar.

in the 40k tabletop, a warhound would gun one down easily, and even the larger versions one saw in Epic are less dangerous (albeit not as much less). Ultimately, they're still killable by a single person if they're that good . I still think it deserves to be a bit more dangerous than you've got it, though.

That said, its main properties are not going to be in its power and strength stats but in the effects it has outside of raw destruction; a great unclean one is decay and corruption personified, so a good....what? quarter or more of the people facing it will probably go stark raving mad, either immediately or (possibly worse) after the fact. Disease will run rampant through your army, so any infantry units - especially lower tech ones - will suffer massive losses in any ongoing campaign quite aside from anyone getting stabbed.

You could totally create a custom Greater Daemon of Nurgle of whatever power level you prefer. Great Unclean Ones are just the bog standard.
