Destiny Point Tokens

By HanShot1st, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I got to run my first EotE game last night (Under a Black Sun). I was using beads for the destiny points (I only had one color so I just had two separate piles for the Light and Dark sides). Today I ordered some Othello game pieces for $6 (there are 20 pieces in total) -- for those of you who don't know they have a black side and a white side, perfect for flipping them to a Lightside token from a Darkside token (or vice versa).

I figured I'd share with this with the community for those who are having a hard time finding something that works for you.

I might just go and do that too. I've been using the cardstock ones that came with beginner game, but they just arent big enough and are too easily knocked around and blend in with all the other character tokens.

Othello tokens are what I've been using for the last few sessions, after the cardboard ones that come with the Beginner Game and the dice packs started getting knocked around and lost.

Been using them for months, somebody else suggested it on this forum months ago. Not only are they harder wearing but they are easier to pick up to flip than the cardboard ones.

Got mine from a travel set so they are magnetic for extra fun :) tend to play with them while waiting for my players to stop arguing ... I mean discussing their plans.

I got mine on eBay... I'm looking forward to getting them in the mail soon! :)

We actually use... I really don't know what it is but it has pegs that go into holes. From one end, they're Light points, from the other, they're dark so you just shift them from side to side when you spend one. It stands up so, to most players, the points and how many are light or dark is highly visible (plus you can tell by touch, if you're so inclined. :) ) and it is almost impossible to knock around.

That sounds like a cribbage board to me

I just use the double sided circle tokens that come with each pack of dice.....

I'm not actually sure what a cribbage board looks like but I asked my dad about what we use. He said it's just some IQ peg game board. They come in other shapes like triangles but ours is just a straight line. Our board is mahogany and the pegs are brass but they make cheaper ones out of pine and they usually golf tees for pegs.

When the beta EotE book was released bought a large pack of Othello chips on Ebay. They were pretty cheap, I assume you can still find them cheap now. I did get way too many though.

I ordered this coins from a brazilian company called Moedas & Co.
They design it from scratch according to my specifications. Soooo beautiful!!

We have a small ceramic red dish and a blue dish - red is dark, blue is light. For the actual tokens, we use these cool frosted blue marbles.

That is pretty awesome, Desslok!

Has anyone tried using Coin Capsules to protect their tokens? I'm talking about those hard plastic covers that coin collectors use to protect their coins, not the paper and mylar ones.

For example; https://www.amazon.ca/Lighthouse-Coin-Capsules-Coins-CENTS/dp/B001L7KO3O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468431511&sr=8-1&keywords=coin+capsules+19mm

Got to thinking about these after seeing natcruella's metal destiny tokens, but haven't had a chance to drop by a local coin store to check them out yet.

Link is broken- Facebook link is down or moved.

I use my signature here on the forums :P but for face to face games its the ones from the dice packs and beginner boxes for us, all my money gets spent on the new books!

This is what I use (note on the front of the GM Screen). It used the tokens from Alea Tools and a small whiteboard.

Hey dude, what game are these ships and hexagon pad from?

Edited by Artuard

The ships are from the old Star Wars Starship Miniatures Game from Wizards of the Coast. The Hexes are ones that I had made. They are wooden pieces spray-painted black with flicked white to give the representation of stars. The planet was done in photoshop, and then printed on a page size label - cut out and placed on the hexes.
