' fly casual' at worlds

By swampthing2, in X-Wing

I'm just a nosey bugger and as such curious to know how the campaign went.

Was the turn out of fly casual t-shirts high?

Also if your reading this Hothie.

As I'm not a member on team covenant thought i'd post here.

Having just read your blog.

Sorry to see you sort of go, but as a guy with a young family who just started the tournament scene i sympathise and like others apreciate your decision and think it seems wise.

Good luck in the future and thx for all you have done/ achieved

Have some time off Hothie. I can totally understand your feelings, When I left GW I needed a year or two off to sort out my mind and the rest of my life.

Thanks, and we didn't end up taking a group picture because there were just too many things going on with little time to arrange it. But there were, I would estimate, over 30 people there wearing the shirts, and it was definitely noticed by everyone. I'll let others write about their experiences, but i did explain the philosophy to the FFG guys who haven't been told about the campaign yet.

The fly casual thing was awesome. Well done Doug.

Doug,

I'm believe you'll see the 'Fly Casual' shirts for years to come at gaming stores, tournaments, and conventions!

I know I'll have mine!

~Ron

hear hear!

Speaking of which, I didn't have cash to find you and get one. Is there any way I can still get one of those sweet shirts?

Also, what's the website for your blog?

I will loook into getting a second printing of them done.

And just go onto team covenant to read my blog there.

Gotcha. I found it seconds after I posted this.

Yes, I think I reprint is in order. They're just great shirts.

Also, on the time off thing, recharging just makes you love something more. And what a bag of memories you've had over the last year. As so many have said, you're a great ambassador. For a new player like myself it sets the kind of standard in a community that brings more people to the game. Congrats.

I wasn't in a position to get one the first time around, but if you reprint them I'll definitely get at least one. Possibly three (two of my kids are getting pretty into the game too).

From Omaha alone we had 6 out of our 7 players wearing fly casual shirts.

And your 7th (Dustin) displayed the ultimate philosophy of the mantra, so he gets a big nod there.

I wore mine on my vacation cruise...for moral support!

So do we know anything about a second printing? I would like one of these shirts.

Doug,

You are correct. Not only did he believe in it, he proved it.

Congrats Doug on all your success, and enjoy the time off! I hope to see you back, as it would be awesome to compete against you in a later championship, but I can see how nearly 8 years of continous star wars gaming can wear on you. You've always been a driving force in the community, whether at Wizards of the Coast or here, and hopefully you enjoy your well deserved break.

I have contacted the company, and they said it is too soon to do a second printing. So look for a second printing to be done some time after the new year. I will post when I get more concrete details.

Thanks hothie!

I was interested but unable to order the first time. Perhaps I can jump on it this time.

I wasn't at Worlds, but I found out about the 'campaign' and what it stood for and ordered mine. I wear it not only playing X-Wing at the FLGS but also when I'm play EotE on roll20.net. :-)
