By selbuorT2, in Battlelore

Hi battlers!

The Fan-Scenario Contest, started in october 2008, finally came to its end.
5 user of the german language battlelore fan-community www.worldofbattlelore.de took part!

And here is the result:

1st place = Scenario 1 - Am Rande der Loyalität (On the outskirts of loyalty) - user: Samy0r
An epic battle with lots of terrain, creatures and quests. Great fun! You may get addicted to it.

2nd place = Scenario 5 - Der Fall der Stadt Oldcastle (The fall of Oldcastle) - user: Zukar
A siege battle between goblins and dwarves. Braveheart ist going to take over Oldcastle.
We were possessed with ambition at this battle!

3rd place = Scenario 3 - Entscheidung am Eiswasser ( Decisive battle at the Eiswasser) - user: Ayora
This is an great emplacement battle for tacticians. You must proof your abilities to notice the rigth tactic for the right first- or counterstrike.

4th place = Scenario 2 - Letzte Schlacht bei Furrow Run! (Last battle at Furrow Run) - TylerT (tanslated from DarkPadawan)
This scenario was our only overseas entrant. A firm siege battle between goblins and dwarves. Great idea and it made fun to play it.
The ambition is to break trough the dwarven walls, or to avoid this breakthrough

5th place = Scenario 4 - Baum fällt (Tree falls) - Migeck
This one - an outstandig idea - but migeck has just not followed the conditions of the contest. So there were no chance to get in 1st or any other place but the last one. Dwarves against goblins. Dwarves must clearing at least 4 forrest pads to win.

You can have a look to and download all scenarios here!

It's all in german. Maybe TylerT can offer his scenario in english?

The WoB is going to start an tournament with the winnig scenario at Vassal - next week.
Futher informations - in german - here!

Congratulation to the winner and a great Thank You to all users how joined this competition!

The winner is invited to the 20th anniversary of the Heidelberger Spieleverlag - the german publischer of battlelore - on the rhine castle Stahleck.
And the winner gets two of the boardgames of the publisher by free choice.

I was looking at the winning scenario and wonder if there is a "typo" for the Pennant side. There is a mounted Blue Pennant unit shown near the top of the scenario next to 2 standard infantry units (Red and Blue). Should that be a Blue STANDARD mounted unit maybe?? Just seems odd...

Edit - Actually it is in the PDF download..the screen online looks correct though - so looks like the PDF is wrong...

Selbour,

I'll make a better attempt at translating the link you gave above when I get home from work - but any chance that a non-German speaker can participate? Vassal attendence on the BL module is a bit low of late, and I would love a chance to get some more gaming in.

Thanks,

Todd

Or maybe a "We vs Them" type of tournament perhaps??...with the top X people from each side duking it out for top honors.

Just a thought and would be willing to do the tournament from this side of the pond as they say. Of course, one will need to determine where to draw the line on who would be on which side.

You are **** right gran_risa.gif
It's just a odd. The mounted Blue should be a Standard mounted. We going to fix that on the download PDF.

What do you mean?
Translating the reports about the scenarios and the tournament?

All about the tournament: I will send DamonWilder over here. He ist the Master of the tournament.

We didn't expected, that there is such a big interest in a tournament over here.
Look, we are first-timer at organize a trounament. Maybe we start a seperate world-wide trounament?
What about that?

For the PDFs - I didn't check the other scenarios so maybe a quick look at them might be nice too!

Tournament/Vassal - Todd I believe was asking if he could join/participate in it. And depending on when/where the tournament is and of course given publicity probably can determine how big the turnout will be. And thus I add about the possibiilty of making a world wide type.

Hi Battler,

it's me DamonWilder, the technical admin of the worldofbattlelore.

First: excuse my bad english, hope you understand most of that what I wanna say.

Today we started a little tournament with the winner-scenario of our contest. It's just for the members of the WoB and it's just in german. Sorry.

But the tournament is just a test for the upcoming iBOL (international Battlelore Online League) in May. First we plan an only-german-speaking iBOL. We do so, cause a) we start as a german fan-community and don't wanna expand to fast. We are only 3 admins and we don't have so much time we wish and need to administrate a worldwide fancommunity. Today we have more than 120 members and our site grows and grows. B) the timedifference! and c) we communicate over skype and the most german player don't wanna communicate in english. The Vassal-Chat is an alternative but the communication is very slow.

Sadly we only have few registrations for our tournament, so we think about it, do expand that League to the none-german-speaking Battler. But there are some technical troubles. We need an english registration for our website and the iBOL. I search for a resolution, but I cannot promise, that we can offer it.

And last but not least: How many english-speaking Battlers are interested in iBOL?

Maybe it would be possible to play with two different leagues (german/english) and the best 4 plays a playoff?
