Has anyone had great success with proton bombs?

PROTON BOMB CARD TEXT "When you reveal your maneuver dial, you may discard this card to drop 1 proton bomb token. This token detonates at the end of the activation phase".

REFERENCE CARD TEXT "When this bomb token detonates, deal 1 faceup damage to each ship at range 1 of the token. Then discard this token."

Proton Bomb damage ignores shields. Thats pretty scary firepower.

What squads have u used or think would work well that include Proton Bombs?

I use 2 proton Bombers alongside a 4 Tie Swarm, one of whom is Howlrunner.

1 of my bombs dealt 2 Munitions Failures to a B-Wing with HLC and a HWK with an Ion Turret... crippling both of them. Both were previously at full health :D

wow. thats dial up destruction Dracon. im starting to think one or two bombers just loaded with a Proton Bomb might work as part of a squad.

Anyone out there working on something like this?

What about using them on a Slave1, anyone tried that?

Try it alongside Saboteur. The Protons plant the damage card, a fair number of which can become face-down again. Saboteur them back up for a supreme amount of hilarity.

That sounds hilarious, cant wait to see my opponents face.

On a side note that has made me want to run a squad of scimitars with seismics and a shuttle or firespray with saboteur as a cheep alternative to proton bombs

so here is the dilemma - proton bombs is most effective on a high pilot skill pilot.

what about using veteran instincts to boost ur name pilots pilot skill?

Saying that I'm sure we will see Imperial ships with turrets and Rebs with bombs.. But I don't think they NEED them... And I think it may be best to keep the 2 sides distinctive for as long as they can, before they get to the stage where there are so many ships both sides can do anything.

I not sure they do at the moment, Rebels get Turrets and 360 arcs, also Astromechs and System upgrades on a ship that can use them offensively.

Imps get high maneuverability and bombs.

It helps keep the two sides feeling distinct...

Saying that I'm sure we will see Imperial ships with turrets and Rebs with bombs.. But I don't think they NEED them... And I think it may be best to keep the 2 sides distinctive for as long as they can, before they get to the stage where there are so many ships both sides can do anything.

Agreed, good point when it comes to the game. I'm just sad that I won't be able to nuke TIEs in the name of FREEEDOOOHM! I must tighten my belt and suffice myself with the ability to impose the indignity of Ion tokens.

They've got full limb-replacement, and an excellent burn-ward, free of charge!

Is there an Imperial ship with astromech droids and/or turrets?

Not to derail the derail, but I'm going to try running:

Scimitar Bomber x 4

Proton Bomber x 4

Backstabber or Dark Curse

I may junk Backstabber for Jonus and Rhymer (for the PS, not for their skills). I'm not real sure about this list because I think it'll be hard to get them all off. But if I can, I can waste nearly any small ship (ignoring shields) and put a wallop on a big ship. I think you'd have to run a non-swarm formation, but it'll be fun regardless.

Skipray Blastboat has a turret

I just had pretty decent success with Seismic charges. Though, honestly, the best part was having a lower piloting skill and hearing my opponent curse when I dropped the bombs because he knew he was going right into their teeth.
