My wish to FFG

By thebadbishop, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Please release a source book that contains many of those one-page planet profiles like the ones we have in the core rule book. Just a whole book of planets, and included in the book a large poster of the galaxy map contained in the core rule book.

It would be cool if there were multiple books per sector (an inner rim book, outer, etc) and each book could contain a 2 sided poster, one side with the complete map and the other with a zoomed in version of the sector in question.

If this was made i would be a very happy customer with a smaller wallet.

Hmm... 8.8 billion earth sized planets in our galaxy... just think how many inhabited worlds there are in the Star Wars galaxy given the ability to terraform planets and moons... How detailed did you want those maps? Could easily do a book for each sector... only a few thousand of those.

I could go for that, if they worked with the Atlas people for continuity.

i am not asking for a COMPLETE book(s) containing details for every single planet, just a far more comprehensive one. At a minimum i would be happy with ....say a 96 page book with 75+ planets with some tidbits here and there + a poster map.

Find the Star Wars: The Essential Atlas (http://starwars.com/atlas/) and look for the WEG Planetary Collections guides.

this is a great resource, however, i would still like FFG to print something like this geared towards the RPG

The second part is geared towards the RPG. Really all you need is the fluff for the RPG.

this is true, but the atlas probably has irrelevant information (stuff that hasn't happened yet).

If I was going to make a purchase of either the Atlas or one of these fictional books (assuming they were both available to purchase), I would probably buy the FFG one because I am only purchasing it as a supplement for my tabletop game.

If the map poster was not included, it would make the choice harder, but I still think I would go for the FFG one.

Call me a completionist but I like it when my products match.

This is exactly what I do. I got that Essential Atlas book a month or so ago... it is pretty great. The old WEG books is where most of these planets were created anyway. They are a great resource of info.

I actually hope they do NOT put out books... because we ALL know I will forced to buy them (LOL). Just kidding, I would love to see books like these... esp if the map is an actual removable fold out. Would look great in my nerd den.

Edit... hmmmm there are maps of various sectors online... color laserjet.... I may have created a project for this weekend

This. I love that Atlas, and reference it when I can for my games.

A combination of the Atlas and Wookieepedia has worked pretty well for us. Our GM was looking for an ice planet that wasn't Hoth and stumbled across Lanthrym, an ice planet with an active shadowport.

While it has worked out, I wouldn't mind seeing something from FFG, perhaps in conjunction with the guys who did tha Atlas, about some of the smaller, little known worlds. Heck, with the number of populated worlds in the galaxy, perhaps they can come up with a whole book about a newly charted hyperspace route and the planets along it. Fresh planets ripe exploit.... er... exploration!

I could go for a book like the original poster suggested.

Oh man, Lanthrym! Such fun my D6 players and I had there. If your GM is looking for more stuff to use, please point him to my old Elrood Sector website, Tales of the Freespirit! :)

Will do! :)

I bought the essential atlas as well, to get info on certain planets and templates for planets that aren't described in there but are on the map.

It was the Atlas that led to my inclusion of Rorak 4 (and its space station, Rorak 5) in the first few chapters of my campaign. :)

Perhaps what might be better is an app which randomly, but some what intelligently, generates the data for them. =)

I think would be more useful in the long haul.
