That's right, 6 academy ties. Also, the game was 115 points instead of 100. We had a slightly larger space than 3 x 3, so we used slightly more points as well.

Okay, so I finally decided to actually write up a battle report.

The setting:

The infamous slaver, Krassis Trelix flanked by two flights of three TIEs onto the table...er, asteroid belt. I'm still not sure how he got a TIE escort. Anyways...

Wedge led the squad against the vile Imperial ****** bags.

The Match:

It started slowly, with both sides advancing slowly, the rebels aiming for a gap in the asteroids, while the Imperials tried to avoid crashing into each other.

The second turn resulted in the first exchange of fire and the first passing of focus tokens from Katarn. The first academy tie was destroyed by a volley from wedge and ten numb.

Next the rebels pulled away to the left, forcing the TIEs to fly around or through the asteroids to get to them. The game quickly went to the rebels favor as wedge and ten were able to take out TIEs on nearly every turn. Kyle used his ion turret to clean up, and force TIEs to crash into a handful of asteroids.

In the end, the rebels quickly cleaned up the TIEs and surrounded trelix. He nearly destroyed ten numb and dealt a crippling weapons malfunction to him. Katarn was down to two hull points. Yet, trelix didn't stand a chance against the combined firepower of ten numbs auto blaster and wedge's general awesomeness. Plus, Kyle Katarn had a stack of eight focus tokens even though he had been passing them out every turn and using them when he could.

The Reflection:

I liked the group, I thought they would be in trouble because of the number of opponents and trelix's heavy laser cannon, but the asteroids proved to be problematic for the large base (the other player hadn't flown one of the big ships yet).

I think Katarn was fun, but I would probably switch him out for one of the y-wings or jan ors in the future. Maybe something like:

115 points

36 points
Wedge Antilles
R2 Astromech, Push the Limit, Stealth Device
38 points
Jan Ors
Ion Cannon Turret, Nien Nunb, Moldy Crow, Shield Upgrade
41 points
Ten Numb
Fire-Control System, Autoblaster, Marksmanship

or

112 points

36 points
Wedge Antilles
R2 Astromech, Push the Limit, Stealth Device
35 points
Horton Salm
R5 Astromech, Proton Torpedoes, Ion Cannon Turret
41 points
Ten Numb
Fire-Control System, Autoblaster, Marksmanship

Not sure what I'd do with the extra three points in the second squad, but it's a start.

Hey! Alleged vile slaver, thank you.
