Card sizes (yeah i know in the 05 they are smaller)

By Guest, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

I am thinking about picking up the revised edition. I need things to match and i like the brown board instead of the hard to see black board. BUT that is a lot of money to respend. So the one question I have for the people that have purchased the revised is. Do the cards that come in the expansions match the size of the cards in the revised. OR are the expansion cards still protruding from the deck even with the revised edition. And finally will FFG send a revised board, the two inspectors, and the properly sized cards if I request them?

Thanks and sorry if this has been asked before.

Whether or not the cards match the cards from expansions has seemed to be on a person-by-person basis. However, I have noticed that the revised edition ally cards do not match in color with the expansion allies; they are darker than the expansion allies and the 1st edition allies.

The revised edition also comes with updated cards (lantern, healing stone, flesh ward, jenny barnes, bob jenkins) so if you didn't get those replacements yet, it might be worth it considering you're already interested in the board.

But if you're worried about card sizes, you might as well just buy the revised edition and use the 1st edition cards if you have to.

I have the Dunwich and Black goat. The cards that come with them are the same size, but they are larger than the cards included in the origonal Arkham. So I want to know if the revised used the same sized cards as the exspansion. The Expansion cards are very visable before drawing and it makes deciding on the deck to draw from easier to limit what cards you get, also they make shuffling with the old cards harder because of the slight weight difference.

Please respond only if you have the revised adition.

I have the Revised and haven't noticed any difference in card sizes. However, as Tibs mentioned, the colouring is different, so you'll know if the next card is a base game or an expansion card (at least if you play in a well-lit room). But since I'm using base + 4 expansions, that cuts down on the odds of knowing exactly which card from which set I'll be drawing. Note, the above is only regarding the Investigator cards (UIs, Common Items, Spells, etc.). I always sleeve my Ancient One cards (Mythos, OW, Arkham Encounters), so can't say if there is any difference in size among those.

Thanks so much. Now a new issue has been brought up.

Would FFG be kind and send me replacements decks of cards from the revised edition (I know asking for the board would be pushing it)?

Seems I might have to put up with my OCD. I will buy the revised if I can't get replacements. Simply because the cards are the right size and color difference isnt what bothers me its the cards having to be shuffled in seperate piles. MTG and other serious TCG players know what I am talking about.

They won't replace the decks. My Dunwich expansion small cards have a different finish that all the others. I've contacted them about it but they didn't want to replace them. I'm agonising over buying a new version of the expansion just so my cards will fit. I hate it when I know I'll draw a Dunwich card. It's strange that the mythos and encounter cards are fine though.

They revised that, really? I'm in the same boat as you, but it doesn't bother me as much.

Yeah, I'm usually anal about colors matching up perfectly (just shelled out 10 bucks to print some damaged Agricola cards, then another 10 the next week once I color-corrected them better—and they're still not perfect). But with Arkham, there's so much going on so you kind of lose track of what's what most of the time. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I only bought the new edition because my cards were getting creased badly (I take much better care of my babies now).

Wait. Can you request revised Jenny and Bob cards from fantasy flights and they will send them out? I have the Original version of the game and I would HATE to buy a whole new one just for that.

Please don't quote me on this—But I think that updated Bob and Jenny cards are included in Dunwich (along with the updated items).

Though I've bought Dunwich twice and Revised Arkham once, so my memory could be tricking itself.

I have Revised x1 and Dunwich x1 and only 1 each of BJ and JB investigator cards. IIRC, DH only had the updated items.

Drat. Well at least it's not too hard to remember.

  • One more dollar for Bob (like it matters)
  • One more CI for Jenny
  • Anything you like to give to Sister Mary

Fine.

  • The whiskey and shotgun you give to Sister Mary

Everybody knows how you play her. Because that's how everyone plays her.
