How would you spec out this ship?

By ColonelCrow, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I'm starting our group's campaign in media res with three of the characters aboard a YT-1300 busting the fourth out of a prison ship in deep space (it's actually more complicated than that).

In trying to design the first encounter, I found the d6 specifications for a prison ship in an old West End Games product, Flashpoint! Brak Sector (by Sterling Hershey!). After the characters negotiate the rather tricky exit from the Imperial Prison Ship Unbreakable Bonds I have in mind, I want to have a bit of a space battle, so I need Edge of the Empire stats for this ship.

These are the stats from p. 78 of Flashpoint! Brak Sector. How would you do the conversion?

Fire Control: 2D

Space Range: 1-3/12/25

I'm going to make the guards groups of Spaceport Security Detail minions from p. 398 of the Core Rulebook under the command of one or two Spaceport Security Officers (also p. 398). I suppose I'll need to work up stats for the pilots and gunners, too.

Wow, this is a lot of work!

You are trying to be too detailed. You really don't need to be. I spent a day "rolling up" a nemesis only to have him die in one round and his incapacitated body get looted and tossed down a shaft. Now most of my opposing NPC skill rolls are "What is his ability in that skill, and how many ranks does he have?" BAM done.

Thanks for the advice, kinnison! I acknowledge I'm probably doing too much prep work. This will be the first time any of us has played the game and I just kind of constitutionally like to have all my bases covered. I'm sure I'll wind up winging a lot of stuff, yeah.

I'd go with something like....

Sil 4

Speed 3

Handling -1

Def: 2/-/-/1

Armor: 3

HT: 25

SS: 17

Hyperdrive As listed

Navicom As listed

Sensors Short

Complement/Passangers as listed
Encumbrance 50

Consumables as listed

Weapons:

6 medium laser turrets:

Damage 6, crit 3, range close

The Sil is negotiable 4 and 5 would both make sense for this thing, but I went with 4 since the source has it on the same scale as a "starfighter" which in EotE is typically Sil3 or 4.l It's low speed already keeps it from acting like a starfighter, so it's really just a question of how you want it's weapons to interact with other craft.
