New Players 100 Point List for forthcoming game

By Rendorin, in X-Wing

Hi guys, first list posted on the forum, have been a long-term viewer from afar.

I am about to play only my second 100 point game, this time as the Empire in a few days, having been beaten first time round. However, I feel that I learnt some valuable lessons, which I can take forward into the next game. Played tie swarmish list first time round and now fancied something different. Before playing the game though though I would seek some advive on the following list:

Pilot: Krasis Trelix (46)

Firespray-31

Upgrades:

Heavy Laser Canon

Recon Specialist

Pilot: Captain Jonus (28)
TIE Bomber
Upgrades:

Squad Leader

Cluster Missiles

Pilot: Scimitar Squadron Pilot (25)
TIE Bomber

Upgrades:

Cluster Missiles

Assault Missiles

Total Squad Points: 99 (for hopeful initiative).

Basic premise is to hopefully hit from range and soften up the opposition using both Krasis and Jonus' re-roll abilities on secondary weapons, hopefully securing maximum hits.

Comments and guidance/direction would be most welcome.

Krassis is an expensieve target, and once he's gone you're in a heap of trouble if your alpha strike doesn't work.

I don't know what ships you have available but I suggest:

Krassis (36)
with HLC (7)

and Recon Spec. (3)

Bounty Hunter (33)

Scimitar Bomber (16)

with Assault Missiles (5)

The plan will be to wait with the Assault Missile until the Bomber has aquiered a Target Lock in one turn and then a Focus in the next. Hopefully Krassis will be drawing the fire, and if not you will have two Firesprays shooting 4/3 attack dice at the enemy for a much longer time than you would in your initial build.

Your list looks good. I'm assuming your going to use Jonus's squad leader to TL/Focus assault missiles the first time around and then use his ability for improving the dice results. Jonus also will work on Krassis HLC but there is a bit of an overlap there but that's good with 4 dice rolling. Recon Specialist is a good choice for the double focus.

It is a good list. Your opponent will want to target Krassis but will have to think about Jonus and be worried about that scimitar.

Thanks for comments.

Veldrin: Have added my collection to my signature, sorry no second Firespray.

Sergovan: That was my intention with Jonus to use Squad Leader to get a Target Lock and Focus w/Scimitar in one turn.

Given my propensity for bad dice rolls both Krassis' and Jonus' abilities will enable me to get re-rolls on secondary weapons and as I had read Recon will aid in the Firesprays survivability.

I like your list. It's a solid Jonus/Krassis build. I'd find a way to purchase that 1 point onto something, though, as initiative is actually BAD for when you want to target-lock or drop bombs, as your foes won't have moved into position yet when you fire.

Perhaps giving Jonus a set of Assault or Homing missiles instead? He can't apply the bonus to himself, after all...

Remember that Krassic couldn't use it's reroll ability on the same dice that it would reroll using Jonus's ability. That may give you a lot of potential rerolls should your first roll fail but it's still rerolling different dice.

I'll also remind you that Cluster Missiles are normally considered poor choices. I know Jonus may change that but that is when they are on OTHER ships as Jonus doesn't get to reroll his own secondary weapon attack dice.

Thanks for the tip a very good point, have swapped Jonus' missile to an Assault Missile, strange to think that I don't actually want the initiative for empire...

I know! Weird, isn't it?

Will try to follow with a BATREP to let you know how it all goes, thanks for all the input and comment
