I went to the Catalog for X-Wing and looked in the news archive. I can't find the article announcing the set anywhere. I also can't find anything about them in Upcoming. FFG having second thoughts? I was looking forward to Cinematic Play...

I don't think it was ever listed in the catalog, the last thing said that they were waiting for approval from Lucas/Disney. They've yet to say otherwise, so it might be that they're still waiting or else they have it and are working on final versions of the model.

But they have yet to say that they're in production, or that they weren't going to do it. I'm assuming they're still planing on it, just haven't gotten far enough to put them in the catalog yet.

Well, we know about Jek Porkins and Rebel ace Wes Janson. They specifically call Wes an "Ace", and we have an Imperial "Aces" pack with similar timing. I'm betting more red squadron pilots.

What's Porkins ability gonna be tho? Roll one attack die, on a hit or crit, finish a bucket of fried chicken in one sitting?

I think based on what happened at the DS battle, his ability will be that at the end of the game if he is still alive, he is removed from play.

I can't see the 'Ace' title being an in-game distinction, especially when Wedge, Fel, Turr, etc. don't have it. I think it's just a reference to Janson's kill count in the EU, which is, IIRC, quite significant.

I'm curious if Janson and Porkins will have pilot abilities that are designed specifically around cinematic/epic play. I know I've seen some concern from a few players that these high pricetag ships will be 'necessary' to remain competitive, and that seems to run counter to FFG's design/release philosophy.

I don't think the Ace title is anything specific, just a general theme.
