Going to my first Worlds this weekend with two friends; the first really big event for all three of us. Very much looking forward to it, and to meeting lots of folks from these forums. We've been practicing, but I'm wondering if we are missing anything so we can get in some last minute practice. For example...

I think we'll still see our fair share of TIE swarms of various types (including the Vader/Shuttle + 5-6 TIE swarm, as well as more traditional 7 TIE swarms).

Probably some variations of the traditional 3 or 4 X-Wing squads.

I think we'll see a couple of different variations of the 2 B-Wing & 2 X-Wing squads.

What about multiple firespray (just 2, or perhaps all 3) or multiple YT-1300 squads?

Anything else we might see with some regularity that is not on this list?

OK my experience from the tournament last Saturday, things will probably be different due to meta, I'm over in the UK..

Far more HWKs that I thought I would see, they outnumbered YT-1300s, normally a single one with Jan Ors or Kyle backing up 2 Rebs.

I saw no Shuttles at all.

There were definitely some swarms + Interceptors backed by swarms.

Only a single duel YT-1300 and duel Firespray list out of the 18 people attending.

1 Bomber heavy list.

Now this could be because it was casual and people weren't trying to run the 'BEST' squads. Or it could be that wave 3 has smoothed out the game and there are far more 'Viable' builds and less 'Optimal' builds.

You don't have the Han Shot First listed there, and I'd expect to see some of those. I'd also expect to see some 3 B's with FCS and HLC's. Also I'd expect to see a couple 4 Tie Bomber lists.

Wedge/Biggs/Luke with upgrades

2x Firespray w/ 1-2 ties

Dual Falcon (obsolete but still powerful and forgiving)

I'm sure you'll see all of these. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few 6 tie imperial lists with how much people love interceptors and just the sheer # of options. There will be a shuttle swarm. I expect bomber swarm. There will be 4-5 imperial lists with bombs and missiles.

At this point , you're not going to see a lot of chatter about lists. There are seldom people willing to share their "secret tech". If you're lucky enough to be going and don't have your list yet... gooooooood luuuuckkkkkkk. Knowing how to fly your own list matters just as much or more than what you'll face. Choosing a list to do well against different kinds of squads (those lists above) is your best bet. Get there early if you can and seek some early intel and practice games.

Thanks for all the ideas. i wasn't looking for anything specific, just general ideas I might not have thought of.

I have two lists that I've been practicing against a variety of other squads (pretty comfortable with both, and as with all squads each has its strengths and limitations).

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything obvious. These give me some good lists of things for some last minute practice.

I think eruletho pretty much nailed it. But keep one thing in mind, these may be "optimal" lists, but you're going to see people flying whatever they want to fly. Don't be surprised to see

BBYY with ions

ABXY lists (aka rainbow squadron)

Hwk plus any number of combinations of other ships

Tie advanced with missiles

I know some squads that people are bringing, and you better be prepared for 30+ hit points. Just saying.

ABXY is pretty flexible and has a few good match ups. A lot of the new lists seem to be pushing HP.

It is nice to feel like our game has a lot more than Rock Paper Scissors. Feels a bit more like Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock, Hammer, Spork, Cheese-grater, Mosquito Swarm, Roman Candle.

I'll let you all decide on the hand gestures and what squad is what.
