Lt. Lorrir Imperial Aces Pilot

By Silver Crane, in X-Wing

That is an awesome ability! Thanks for sharing.

I think this ability is ridiculously good. You can fly straight at someone and then side slip out of their firing line and put them at range one of his. I'm excited for these new squints.

Same. Gonna build ASAP a squad with that dude and Turr + PTL

I like him. It will take some practice to get the twisty Barrel Rolls down. Some fun repositioning. I also don't see why he wouldn't be 23 pts, like Fel's Wrath. He's still a lot better than Fel's Wrath. I see him being useful at that point cost compared to the other Interceptors, if you aren't planning on loading up an Interceptor with multiple Mods via Royal Guard Interceptor. Still better than Fel's Wrath.

But is it better than the Saber Squad Pilot with Push the Limit for 24 points?

I highly doubt it, and PTL Saber allows you to do relatively the same maneuver for greater distance covered.

Plus, it allows for a number of other useful combinations as well.

It's not the same maneuver though. Doing a curved barrel roll to get out of a firing arc and still face your target. I think it's potential is pretty huge. It would be way better on a higher ps pilot though.

I realize it's not the same exact maneuver, hence why I said relatively.

Just remember that at 23 points (my prediction since +1 PS and +1 pilot skill over PS4 Saber), he's going to fight with a Saber with PTL at 24. For that 1 point, you are much better in attack, defense, with only a subtle difference in maneuverability.

This comes back to something I said earlier, a squints biggest bonus is its ability to stay out of fire and still shoot.

Yup. I love how the bank Barrel Roll can just hug firing arcs. It also sets him up with for a nice pursuit.

Vader sligshot is even longer now...

Excuse my ignorance but what is the Vader Slingshot?

I'm assuming it's Darth Vader using Squad Leader to pass out 2 free actions.

NiCE! Now definitely cannot wait for the Imperial Aces pack to come out! Love me some 181st Interceptors

For those who haven"t read anything with Lorrir in it, http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lorrir . I love the EU and everyone should know about the pilots they field.

He will be in my list with the name "Roll out the Barrel Roll".

Question: What are people's thoughts on pilots from different factions having the same ability? For instance, a B-wing pilot that can also barrel role using the 1 bank? (I don't think that's a good example but you know what I mean.) Or an Imp pilot with Wedge's ability to take a defense die away. It would expand the pilot pool but somewhat, particular for generic pilots, like the Green Squadron A-wing. But would that also take something away from the balance and bovelty of each side?

Side thought: Upgrade-esq cards like Tutelage: Studied under X pilot, gain's X's pilot ability.

I would rather pilot abilities be a bit more unique. Or at the very least, be a bit better than a similar Elite Talent or upgrade.

With Squad Leader combined with a hard 2 and Boost you can do a complete 180 degree turn. Gonna be fun putting this one through the paces.

Vader can't use the same action twice. So him using Squad Leader twice would be out.

Hmm it says he was at the battle of Brental IV, that was also one of the battles that Dericote flew in. Maybe the speculation that Dericote will make the box has a bit of a basis now.

hmmm... only once but forgot that he can't PTL. That's ok, you don't need to be able to do "9 forward" in 1 round.

I wouldn't want to move that far in one turn with one fighter. None of your other ships could keep up, leaving you out there to get clobbered by the opposing force.

Unless of course, the rest of your list also have Sabers with PTL!

anyone have a guess as to what that card behind Lt. Lorrir is? "when attacking at...you may spend 1...<hit> result"

A snippit of a new pilot card? Looks like it could be an interesting addition to the heavy hitting power of an interceptor.

It is Kir Kanos, who was revealed in the announcement. Spend an Evade to add 1 hit result when attacking at range 2-3.

ah, i missed his ability.

The last guy has to be Evir Derricote.

It could also be Gunn Yage

Not likely, as she exists during the Sith-Imperial War, which I think is at least 130ABY

Derricote is possible, I can't think of any other Rebellion era 181st pilots of note (though I'd forgotten about Lorrir as well).

I feel like it has to be Derricote, but have no inkling of what his ability could even be.
