Lt. Lorrir Imperial Aces Pilot

By Silver Crane, in X-Wing

Don't know if this has be spoiled yet, but I was at the FFG Game Center and saw a promo for the Imperial Aces Pack in the bathroom. It had a picture of the 5 Skill unique pilot from the Imperial aces pack. For your viewing pleasure: 1458520_250438098440102_917444657_n.jpg

Basically,he lets you take a stress to you the one banks instead of the 1 straight when barrel rolling.... Interesting to say the least.

Nice catch! That definitely has not been spoiled yet.

Thats a super nifty ability, shame he can't get an EPT he would be super popular if he did. I may put him on the board once in a while anyway.

TBH he is a nice cheap an cheerful pilot with a cool ability, I can see me using him when I want a cheap interceptor.

A super fitting card for the guy Wedge said side-slipped too much in Isard's Revenge, I suppose this is to represent jim in his 181st days... Glad to see more E.U. pilots popping up.

Do we know how cheap he is? I would hope he is 21pts. Paying the same cost as a Saber and loosing the EPT to gain a pilot ability and a pilot skill may sound like a steal but would you really pay 22pts for him when you could get a royal guard pilot instead?

Yep if you want numbers and are not planning to equip a EPT anyway, 1PS in exchange for his ability is not bad.

Thats fair I guess. I personally love the RGP but thats just me. I will be hard pressed to buy him if he is 22pts, if he is 21pts I would use him sometimes.

Im not seeing a use here unfortunately

the only thing this really spoils is the fact FFG is willing to use EU pilots.

That means.... who can they use for the PS8? Wasnt there a girl, or that fat dude?

The last guy has to be Evir Derricote.

Wow. This is an ability I absolutely love. I am already envisioning a green bank followed by a barrel roll out with the same bank, which is basically a Tokyo Drift, or a green turn with a bank-roll inside the curve, which basically puts you where you started, but with a 135* twist to the left/right...

I'll have to go re-read the Stressful Maneuvers interaction, as to whether Captain Yorr can take the stress off of a maneuver to let the pilot in question do an action. If that's how Yorr works, then this guy is his best friend forever. Can you imagine doing a Koiogran followed by this guy's horizontal boosts?

I like him. It will take some practice to get the twisty Barrel Rolls down. Some fun repositioning. I also don't see why he wouldn't be 23 pts, like Fel's Wrath. He's still a lot better than Fel's Wrath. I see him being useful at that point cost compared to the other Interceptors, if you aren't planning on loading up an Interceptor with multiple Mods via Royal Guard Interceptor. Still better than Fel's Wrath.

But is it better than the Saber Squad Pilot with Push the Limit for 24 points?

I highly doubt it, and PTL Saber allows you to do relatively the same maneuver for greater distance covered.

Plus, it allows for a number of other useful combinations as well.

The greater distance only matters if there is room to do it. There is also significant forward movement, which is not always the ideal spot. Will most people take the Interceptor with Push the Limit, sure. But I like the niche this pilot fits into. Ideal for close quarters maneuvering.

very cool ability. mid-range PS. hed see lots of play if hes not to expensive. im guessing 21-22pts.

I'm seeing 23 points unfortunately. Just look at Fel's Wrath and Saber pilot as a reference.

*fidles with templates for 15 minutes...

I love the mobility and it will be fun to use but 22-23 pt minimum here. No advanced pilot skill is probably a good thing, shenanigans would ensue.

Vader sligshot is even longer now... Lt. can move essentially a straight 9 and a half in a single turn with help (Straight 5 + soft boost + "barrel roll" with the soft "boost" template = almost 2 straight 5's). If he could PTL to evade/focus/TL that would be very very silly. You could attack first round every time with him in this setup.

But he's not just really good at getting in close, he's excellent at staying away from everything. Him and Kir and backstabber can hang back and tear people up at range and not get shot at (or at least shot back at well).

Implications for sure, but a sad point slot.

remeasured a few times. It's really pretty much a 9.95 move in a single turn with someone handing him that second action; less than the white detailing at the end of the templates. Crazy speed.

Hello Fel's Wrath it's Lt. Lorrir calling, yes I know you were fired way back when the Royal Guard Interceptor was spoiled to have a higher Pilot Skill, and EPT slot and cost less, just wanted to make sure you were aware you are now so fired and we are blacking out your side of the base chit and burning your stat card because you will never see the table ever again. Say hi to Winged Gundark and R5-K6.

Has anyone ever used Fel's Wrath? Ever? I mean, getting one more attack in the turn you get killed isn't that useful of an ability...

At least Winged gets to see some action and R%-K^ can be useful on Dutch or (for a less conventional list) Garvin. Poor Wrath though is gonna be out on the streets.

Edit: I've used him occasionally. His ability is pure insurance though and so falls low on the priority list. With a far better equal skill/cost option though I don't see how he can come back from this...

Super cool ability, but I am really weirded out by the fact that this pilot was spoiled by a urinal.

The Force moves in mysterious ways...

I think this ability is ridiculously good. You can fly straight at someone and then side slip out of their firing line and put them at range one of his. I'm excited for these new squints.

It's not the same maneuver though. Doing a curved barrel roll to get out of a firing arc and still face your target. I think it's potential is pretty huge. It would be way better on a higher ps pilot though.

That's probably why he can't equip elite talents, Vet instincts would make him stupid good against all but the top end pilots.

Though if you've got an intelligence agent somewhere in your squad you can get almost the same effect.
