Why go small-school? You could ditch two of the missiles and pick up a Heavy Laser Cannon on Ibtisam, or you can try out THIS build

Garven Dreis

+ R2-D2

[30]

"Dutch" Vander

+Ion Cannon Turret

+ R5-K6

[30]

Ibtisam

+ Push the Limit

+ Advanced Sensors

+ Engine Upgrades

[38]

I like the hypermobility of Ibtisam, with the free offensive actions from one or both of her squad-mates, leading into constantly having her stressful bonuses. You could trade out Advanced Sensors, cutting her unpredictibility and mobility, in favor of a Radar Jammer for more survivability, and still have 99 points in your fleet.

You could also demote R2-D2 to a regular R2 Astromech, and give Ibtisam an Autoblaster... with a free focus and target lock every turn and the maneuverability always to be at range 1...

Hmm, I would do this for a smaller B-Wing list:

100 points
Ibtisam
Push the Limit
Advanced Sensors
Wedge Antilles
Push the Limit
R2 Astromech
Engine Upgrade
Biggs Darklighter
R2-D2

Engine Upgrade goes on Wedge to get him in R1 and out of firing arcs because Ibtisam already has Barrel and Push.

Biggs brings another 3 shots to the mix as well as preserving both main damage dealers.

I've saved the variations everyone has suggested and will eventually (fingers crossed) try them all out

As well as what has been mentioned, how are 2 X-wing and 2 B-wing lists looking?

A friend and I went to a tournament in Milton Keynes (UK) this Saturday just gone and he flew x2 x-wings, x2 b-wings and came 2nd, so I would say looking good.

He flew

Red Squadron

Dagger Squad + Advanced sensors

Dagger + advanced sensors

I think If you hunt the internet, especially the team covenant site you will find this list getting some press, it has become known as "Bloody Daggers"

Also getting a lot of chat is another two x, two b combo

"Blue Thunder"

Rookie

Blue Squad + HLC

I seem to have come up with Bloody Daggers myself whilst mucking about on Squadron Generator.

I think I'll give that one a bash, since I'm really indecisive when given many options. The relative simplicity appeals to me...

we never practiced our squads as they were quite last minute choices. His was actually in the car on the way there so I have yet to play against it and can't give you any more details as to how it flys or strengths and weaknesses.

But I can say that he adored advanced sensors and as you say the simplicity of the squad

Here's something - am I right in thinking Advanced Sensors is only available in Lambda?

Does this mean I'm obliged to buy two Lambdas just to have the cards?!

Hello all!

As another new player I thought I might jump in here too and say howdy. I have worked up two imperial lists that I would welcome feedback on.

List 1: stress-free subjugation

31 points

Captain Yorr, heavy laser cannon

27 points

Turr Phennir, swarm tactics

18 points

T/I Alpha squad pilot

12 points

Academy pilot

12 points

Academy pilot

I was looking to make a force that could very quickly retaliate after an initial strafing run and give myself as much flexibility as possible for moving where I want. I included Turr because I am a huge fan of the post-attack action for getting out of firing arcs.

List 2: I can't believe it's not Vader

20 points

T/B scimitar squad pilot, proton torpedo

25 points

T/A Tempest squad pilot, cluster missiles

30 points

Turr Phennir, shield upgrade, adrenaline rush

12 points

Academy pilot

12 points

Academy pilot

The theory behind this one is to fly the advanced and bomber together against heavy targets and strip shields with the cluster missiles then follow with the torps to hopefully deal out some Critical damage. The Academy pilots are there to harass and annoy and Turr would come in from further afield to clear out any harder targets. I am not sure that this force can hold up against a full TIE swarm, but I am very keen to hear any feedback on either list.

Unfortunately yes if you plan to play any tournaments but socially you can just proxy.

My friend has no lambdas so borrowed one of me and one from another player for the tournament.

The lambda has proven an absolute pig to fly but does come with some awesome cards so most people are buying at least one.

Here's a new challenge then, since I'm new as new can be, and wont be buying dozens of miniatures to start

Help me come up with a list with cards that would only come with Core, X-wing, Y-wing and B-wing sets please?

I hear google knows.

Yeah, fair enough.

Need fewer questions, more dice rolling....

I can confirm that Wedge with Push the Limit, Engine Upgrade, and R2 astromech is amazing. Unfortunately you won't have PTL unless you get an A-wing expansion. Here is one list I like that is similar to an ABXY list I made but without the A-wing.

27 pts - Garven Dreis - R2 astromech

22 pts - Rookie pilot - R2 astromech

27 pts - Blue sqdrn Pilot - Fire control system, Ion cannon

24 pts - Gold sqdrn Pilot - Ion cannon turret, R5 astromech

100 pts

This one doesn't have as many named pilots as the lists you have been suggesting, but I like it if you just want more ships on the field. I am very partial to ion cannons. This list lets you hold down a ship or two pretty well in order to focus fire with Garven and the Rookie. Garven can also pass his focus to the Rookie, allowing Rookie to target lock and get a very high chance of scoring lots of hits. With the fire control system, the B-wing is very good at chain ionizing a ship and can set himself up for a big range 1 attack.

The main downside to this list is of course the low pilot skills. If you go up against a list with many named pilots, you will be shooting last almost every time.

It also occurs to me that you may not have 2 R2 astromechs, so you can replace those with R5 if you want.

Welcome to X-wing!

If you are going to buy individual upgrades, Push the Limit is probably one of the best ones you can get. However, depending on the price, you may just want to get an A-wing expansion if one is available. You may also consider getting an Engine Upgrade since that only comes with the YT-1300 expansion.

I agree. You can never go wrong with a PTL upgrade.

Also I find even though I have two a-wings i still sometimes want another PTL for squads so if your not ready to buy an a-wing yet its not a bad purchase.

Also to note is that there is an imperial aces doyble interceptor pack due out at end of rhis year and rhat too will contain some PTLs.

If you intend to get a falcon at some point I wouldnt bother with the engine upgrade as you get two in a pack and I doubt you'll need more.

So, I didn't manage to get the core or B-wings in the shop with my magical free money card, but I did get the YT-1300 and ordered the core + B's on eBay.

I'm ready to deal some death to the imperials

Congrats CaptainBoxman! I'm about to pick up my second core set and possibly a couple of B-Wings as I like the look of the 'Bloody Daggers' list!

To the new players. It is a good idea to pick up a second core set when you can. You get double everything (dice, templates, upgrades) and its is the cheapest way to get to 2 X-wings and 4 tie fighters. You'll need two expansions per side to get to the 100 point limit after that, but at 100 points games become more challenging and fun.
