can't decided on a list

By jester84, in X-Wing Battle Reports

I have a tournament I'm playing in today and I can't decide beteeen these two lists

Biggs w/ stealth and r2f5 31 points

Blue sqd pilot w/ fcs apt and shield upgrade x2 64 points

Total 99 points

Or

Kath scarlet w/ recon spec slave 1 dead eye proton bomb and apt

Krassis w/ vader prox mine and cluster missile

Biggs /w R2-F2

Blue Squad /w FCS x 3

That's pretty tough. Keep the B's in formation and let Biggs hang out behind them, and let those B's bring the pain.

Don't have 3 b-wings unfortunately

Don't have 3 b-wings unfortunately

That would cause issue.

Can always replace one of those B's for a Rookie X-Wing. That will leave you with 3 points to do with as you please, and it's the same PS as the B's for movement purposes.

Hopefully posting in the wrong section doesn't reflect on your tournament chances.

I would go Kath and Krassis but outfitted this way:

100 points
Kath Scarlet (51)
Firespray-31 (38), Cluster Missiles (4), Ion Cannon (3), Proximity Mines (3), Venteran Instincts (1), Recon Specialist (3)
Krassis Trelix (49)
Firespray-31 (36), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Seismic Charges (2), Recon Specialist (3)

Kath ions and then pops in front to drop off the proxi mines on next move. Cluster for Y and B wings that show up. VI to shoot first. Recon to boost attack and defense rolls.

Krassis is a heavy hitter with HLC. Recon to boost attack and defense rolls. Charge for swarm.

I agree with Sergovan.

Deadeye on Kath isn't bad, but you'd need a missile instead of the Proton Bomb to make it even more useful. VI might be a better bet as Sergovan stated above.

On the B-B-Biggs list:

Ditch the APT : you have better damage options than a 1-shot missile, particularly one so hard to use.
Ditch the Shield Upgrades : you've got Biggs for a reason, so they'll not be of much use.

Pick up a System: Advanced Sensors, Fire-Control System, and Radar Jammer are all huge game-changers. Never lose an action to a Red Maneuver, and/or Barrel Roll before moving for one, Always have a Target Lock readied for the second, and Force your opponent to Focus with every ship, or miss.... you see where I'm going.

Consider a Heavy Laser Cannon: Every attack you make will now be with 4 dice against their normal defenses. It's worth the 7 points every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Consider an Ion Cannon : Keeping Biggs at Range 3 or behind an Asteroid keeps him alive for as long as possible. All the damage you deal while he's alive is, essentially, free. The Ion Cannon allows you to choose where your opponent will land, to protect Biggs and to facilitate your B-Wings blowing it away at close range the following turn.

Consider an Autoblaster: With the B-Wings' potential for hypermobility, the repeatable "Dodge This" of the Autoblaster will eat anything that relies on Evasion for defense. Your Barrel Roll, and potentially your Boost, will let you get into range easily.

Consider an Engine Upgrade: The B-Wings' survivability is already great, but adding the extra maneuverability from a Boost, on top of your extra maneuverability from a Barrel-Roll makes it simply insane. Paired with an Advanced Sensor, you become more maneuverable than the vaunted Fettigator, as you can boost and/or barrel roll before a collision, or before a red maneuver. The Angled Koiogran caused by a Banking-Boost followed by your 2oiogran is particularly surprising.

On the Kath-n-Krass list:

Lose the Torpedoes/Missiles : Both ships have better cannon-options.

Lose the 'Deadeye' : This upgrade is practically useless on anything other than Tie Bombers and Y-Wings, and only one of those can actually pick it up.

Lose Vader : Krassis is too expensive for you to be damaging him as well.

Get at least 1 Heavy Laser Cannon : Krassis + HLC is practically NECESSARY. It works against Kath's ability, though.

Consider trading Kath for Fett : Boba Fett's only 1 point more expensive than Kath, comes with half of Veteran's Instinct for free, and can be used with Navigator to cause hilarious amounts of maneuverability.

Consider an Autoblaster for Kath : She causes stress if they block crits. It forces them to block crits first.

Consider Recon Specialists: The Recon Specialist is one of the best possible Co-Pilots for the Firespray, particularly when you need to improve survivability (as you do when you've only got 2 ships). The fact that it's the cheapest of the best only improves its value.

Consider Gunners : This is the more expensive option, for when you really really really want to hit them. It's great on Kath, in particular, as you get to potentially cause stress on 2 ships! Remember, you don't need to target the same ship with the second attack, and you can shoot out of your butt with the primary weapon attack as well.
Consider Marksmanship : Kath is just a level 7 Bounty Hunter if she never rolls crits. Marksmanship turns an offensive focus into a Crit. Pity it can't be used defensively, or with a Recon Specialist.
