I'm new to the game, bought the starter and dove right in. Absolutely love the mechanics. Went online, loaded up on almost all the ships, multiple other starters, and was ready to make the purchase until I saw that I couldn't get at least one TIE and one X-Wing for the unique pilot cards.

I'm not bashful about buying in bulk, but I'm not going to pay $50 for a lone X-Wing. Where is the product? Why is this not in print? Is this game cashing out already? Are there any plans to reprint? Is the community growing?

I had a massive Star Wars Miniatures collection, and I guess you can call me twice shy about getting into another minis game. Though I'm not shy about plopping cash on a game I feel is much superior, if I can't get the product that I want at a fair price then that sets off my Spider Sense. There are obviously other games to play.

Can anyone reputable within the community here give me an honest portrait of the game's status?

What happened is: this game is CRAZY popular and FFG is doing everything possible to crank out MORE minis! :-)

If you go to the "Upcoming" page and scroll down, you'll see that they are listed as "On the boat" and scheduled to be restocked next month. The game is doing very well now and they simply underestimated how quickly they would move product.

The game is not lacking in support and they're not printing small, demand is just ridiculous. I work in a LGS and we've sold 50 Y-Wings, let alone the more popular ships.

X-Wing and TIE reprints are coming. It's all printed in China though, so print runs take time to coordinate and then reach the West.

FFG has a link on their main page as to the status of upcoming releases and reprints.

No models for this game are going out of print soon, when one batch is sold through, they print the next, generally 3-6 months between print batches maybe.

New shipments of the Wave 1 ships (X-Wing, Y-Wing, TIE Fighter, Advanced TIE Fighter) are on the way. We should have them by the end of the year, I expect.

As the others have pointed out, the shortage is not due to FFG "cashing out" but rather because demand has been higher than they anticipated. The community is indeed growing.

It is unlikely that you will find any Wave 1 ships at a LGS, but you may have more luck with Barnes and Noble. For some reason they carry X-Wing expansions, and I've heard a few cases in which B&N still has Wave 1 in stock.

My local B&N has a TIE Fighter sitting on the shelf right now.

FFG Really needs to put a 82 point font message on the top of this board the says "Nothing in this line is out of print! If you can't find it we are probably in the process of having more made a shipped over. Be patient. We aren't Hasbro!"

I find the four+ posts a week asking this hilarious considering a recent conversation I had with my semi-LGS owner who said the entire reason he doesn't stock FFG games unless he gets a ton of special order requests is because they almost never stop production completely unless their doing a new edition of something.

I only started maybe a couple months ago, and was fortunate to have had my FLGS find a random Y-wing in a box full of A's. I haven't been able to go back to my hometown, which has a B&N (college is in a rather small town) so I haven't been lucky enough to check there. Hopefully I'll be able to grab something this weekend when I go down.

But, I'm just happy they're coming back. Definitely gonna pick up an X and the Fighter when they're reprinted, and then at least one more Y and a few Advanceds...which will unfortunately take a little longer.

i was lucky and stocked up on my favorite ships right when they hit the shelves as I'm a huge star wars fan and a table top gamer (this game is easily my favorite table top game).

now im in the other boat waiting patiently for the new interceptor aces and corvette / transport to be released... aces are coming soon, no idea when the large ships are coming out. If anyone has an inside scoop please share!

never leave a battle brother behind! The more people that play this awesome game, the more FFG will give back to the community (new expansions and material).

A really nice thing about X-Wing is that it really isn't the "collectable" game a lot of other miniature game are. By that I simply mean that they don't just do one large run of a product and they "that's all there will be" unlike WotC did with their miniature products. Now I'll admit WotC HAS reused some of its miniature sculpts but they changed how they were used along the way.

A key piece of advice for picking up X-Wing is "if the asking price is too high see if you can wait it out." X-Wing is currently supply and demand; when the primary source runs dry you'll see prices jump way up until a new supply arrives and returns prices to what they should be.

Simply put, it will ALWAYS be here until people stop buying.

The other thing is join up with players in your area, you have no use for duplicate unique pilots, and I know we lend out our Howl Runners and Wedges to new players so they can play with them.

You should be able to find Core sets pretty easily. If not I can recommend several stores. That will give you TIEs AND Xs, and as someone mentioned all you need to do from there is find someone who has extra of the Unique pilot cards that came in the xpack. Most people will part with them for free.

The Y-Wing and TIE Adv you will have to wait for, but neither is needed to build decent lists at the moment. Honestly, the X-Wing cards (Garven and Wedge) arent really needed for too many builds either and Wedge is available as an alternate art card. I think the TIE one hurts more, since the named TIEs (Backstabber and Howlrunner) are used pretty regularly.

As mentioned, this will all be reprinted and available soon. That should alleviate the demand issues for all 3 waves.

Amazon has them listed as in stock for 14.99 today. I ordered my 3rd and 4th Y wings and a 2nd TIE/x1. We'll see if Prime gets them here on Friday like they say it will.
