Hoping for a cool wizard summoning lieutenant as I love a good wizard and don't like the current wizards
OMG, finally a bard class! I am so excited... I wish they'd reveal what the monsters are, though.
Looks great but I hope they slow down the expansions.
It kind of mentions the monsters a shape changer and a automata and a Ynfernael hulks, someone had mentioned the dual welder there is one of them now. The lieutenants are a rat king thing, two spaces and a single space priest/mage looking guy, and is that a demon king looking guy at the top near the box, also two more green dice which is good as I bought two new dice packs which don't have green dice in, there is also a low hp monster card at the top which I hope is plentiful cannon fodder (you can never have to much)
any one get anything else?
I have to admit, this one looks pretty awesome. Not only an urban-based expansion, but set in the city of Nerekhall, no less. A return to the Free Cities of old! (I was afraid the classics might have been forgotten in the New Era.) I'm very much looking forward to the lore this one will unveil.
Bards have never been my favourite class, but this melody vs harmony thing sounds like it could make for an interesting new mechanic.
I saw that too
Usually, i'm excited. This time, not so much.
I must admit i'm a bit used to news stuff each time. New lieutenants, new minis, will play the campaign with tokens ...
On the other hand, no Basic 3
Really disapointed in the "classic heroes" always. Humans, dwarfs and elf. Sometimes orc, and that's all. Where are unusual half human heroes ? I've got enough of classical ones.
But, I really do like new monsters, (the rat swarm looks like really fun), and new mechanics.
But please, FFG, please ! Stop with theses heroes, and bring us back some runebound ones. Maybe a minotaur, a shapershifter werewolf, a lionman, or something like that.
The Bard class might make me put up my Overlord robes for a day or two.
The Changeling sounds the most interesting for the monsters. The big hulking monster is meh, though, and the statue thing and the rat swarm are blah. Fortunately, I have my harpies and carrion drakes to keep me company.
My favorite part (besides the bard) is the urban setting. I can't wait to see all of the tiles.
And the new heroes look great. I love the campy elf bard and the conjurer the most. The fighter reminds me of Zuko from Avatar. And I'll always accept female orcs with open arms.
FFG sure knows how to empty my wallet
City tiles, something I really look forward to. Now bring me back huge rolling boulders and I will be really happy.
I was going to comment on getting another OL class but I guess with this expansion there will only be 6. I enjoy the change in setting (the city will be awesome), what really stands out to me is the new mechanic of influence.
These are what really sells the expansions to me along the similar lines of rumors and allies. Add in the fact that I can have a "persistent hero" AKA lieutenant packs and being the OL goes from a must to something I would have actually picked instead of "having to be it" do to buying the games.
I was wondering if it will be a complete new campaign of 19/20 quests like the other main campaigns?
I don't think it mentions it in the preview.
I love the campaign big box expansions. I just think you get more value for money.
Looks interesting, hopefully the changeling can be used in other quests. Looks like there may a new ally as well. Bard looks interesting and the city setting is also really cool.
Based on the previous release of LoR it will be a whole new campaign
I also noted there is the two Wraith/spell caster looking baddies on the left and right of the box!
Looks great but I hope they slow down the expansions.
Me too, this is starting to look more and more like a milking cow factory.
The expensions are being thrown out much too fast with tons of lieutenants to rack extra cash and many FAQ issues coming with every one of them.
They just released Trollfends which most of us probably haven't had the time to play yet and here comes the next one...
There's little care for details and balancing.
I'm glad this expension brings in totally new tiles, but I'm starting to think I should simply stop getting them and play with what I have, without the 12-14$ lieutenants...
Will probably get the first 3 lieutenants though (7$) to try them and the allies (hero/monster combo is worth it - 2 minis a box and extra hero card).
Aria is an insult... a single lieutenant getting a double release of 12$ each. Wonder why they didn't do it like the allies.
It's just to many releases and too much cash to spend to keep up with them.
This one was slightly slower release than Trollfens I think normally the next add on is announced before the last one is released, I could be wrong
The Lieutenants are them making up for previous releases I suppose as they have to catch up on previous released of the base game and add on's and will 'slow down' to the same pace as the add on's I guess. Maybe with Aria they were trying to break down the cost of the big pack as Queen aria is pretty big compared to the two allies/Heroes pack.
The bottom line is this, if you think they are too fast (as many do) don't buy them FFG are a company and that's the beauty of Capitalism they will react accordingly.
I can see why people would think they're coming out too fast, since campaigns can take quite a while for the casual player to complete. But if they took longer for new expansions, interest would die down and we wouldn't get as many awesome expansions as we are getting. I'm personally willing to pay 40 bucks every few months for add-on's to this great game, and honestly I'm really glad there's enough buzz around the game for them to be able to do that.
Same as Ringskipper
It's more interresting to have new stuff now than waiting for the game to be concurrenced by other ones, and then we would have miss thoses expansions
when all will be avaliables, we will have all the time to play thoses campaigns, with full of monster, heroes, class
So much choice, i'm having an orgasm just thinking about it !
+1 to everyone above this post.
I also have this constant craving of more things for descent, and I become happy just thinking about all the possibilities there are for expanding this franchise... But at the same time, it feels like a great tsunami of descent expansions are heading for us.
Which makes me a lite bit worried. What if they run out of new fresh ideas for expansions or if the quality would start dropping?
This feeling of joy mixed with worry might just come from the fact, that I haven't been abel to test out all the expansions I have yet, due to my lack of time. Though I have to admit, this expansion looks friggin' awesom!
Makes me think of World of Warcraft Stratholme dungeon in it's theme!
Absolutely love it!
As for the speed expansions come out... To me doesn't really matter because I buy them when and if I want to anyway.
I like the city theme so far hopefully it gets better with more info. I like this theme better then LoR. More stuff is always better for this game!
City is not a theme that's excite me much, maybe this expansion is not the one I would like the most
but since i'm a fan, i need heroes, class and monsters at least
I've bought all the expansions and like the game but I really wish the designers would be more proactive in answering questions regarding their game or fixing quest bugs. Our group at least always seems to stumble on issues that come up and the faq is quite old and I'd rather come here for an official one instead of having to track down developer answers on board game geek. I like these expansions and each has had a cool they need to keep up with support after each is released.
Don't you find heroes are not very strong? (at least their abilities are not) and… why does the mage have better armor than the warrior? They both defend with brown dice (which is awful) but the mage can always have 1 shield due to her ability (which would be the gray defense dice average defense rate)… Don’t know what to think of it

My point exactly.
One thing that would really convince me in getting the next extension is if that one addressed the existing errata'd cards.
What I mean is that if I buy this expansion at normal price, I'd get a reprint of the older "core" cards which have been changed due to balance issues.
This would, at least for me, be a nice insentive in getting yet another extension.
And it would show they still address the issues with previous extensions instead of simply rushing the next one for steady income.
Which makes me a lite bit worried. What if they run out of new fresh ideas for expansions or if the quality would start dropping?
In a way I feel they have a free way of finding out what the market is. It's called FFG message board. Congrats ^.~ you are now apart of the creative process. Often times we post threads about what we would like to see. I can't help but think they feed into that. We said we wanted more water spaces/swamp like environment. We then got Trollfens. We then made a point and discussed, very fully, about a city like environment and what we would like to see there. Boom. We get this. I think that's great!
They might not reply to us allot on their own, but they are listening to what we have to say and inducting this into their end all product. Granted, I feel it is coming out very quickly and I wonder if I can keep up (after all, I want to test out all the plot decks AND the new OL deck... this might not happen by the time this next set comes out! Hehe). But the others are correct. If they slow down, the hype for the game might also quickly die. Feed the masses while the craving is there.
As far as the city... I can't wait to read the story. I hope it really feeds into the lore of the world. It would be great to see Zackerith play a part in the city. I could see him crawling into the city after failing to take the thrown. ^.~ Or maybe getting support from those in the city before looking to take the thrown. I am almost sure Eliza will get to see some play in here. Balthier as well. THAT will be interesting all in it's own right!
