Nice work Doc! I hope the Ramirez paint job was only bad on your one :) I will be interested to hear your Okko review. I hadn't heard about this game until you referenced it. It's a crying shame it doesn't have plastic minis (only pewter ones sold seperately on their website) similar to Tannhauser or other minis games. Maybe they will do them in the future.

I had thought about replacing the minis in Okko with Heroscape and Heroclix, but there are 20 characters in the base game and 9 more in the expansion. I am still gonna look around a bit and post on my blog about this.

Well I just lobbied for some plastic minis on BGG similar to Tannhauser ones. If the publisher has no intention to do this I cannot see myself getting in to the game which is a shame for all parties. I am sure there would be a bigger take up on this game if plastic minis were offered, even unpainted ones. Why don't they commission the same people TOY have to produce them. I would jump in even if unpainted. I play Zombies Last Night on Earth and I have no problem with the minis being unpainted in that game but I would prefer prepainted ones like Tannhauser.

I'm gonna give Okko a chance with the stand-ups, but I'd prefer minis... Their minis are beautiful but too pricey.

I am also thinking about it but the no plastic minis issue is causing a lump. One thing I do like is how the designer Laurent came on the forum and took time to respond. He seems like a genuine guy & he has a passion for producing the game with what seems like little resource, respect to him. He has also had 100% more input than the designers of Tannhauser have had on this forum. I wish one of them would interact more on this site. It's a shame I am not super rich. I would chuck him the money to make the plastic moulds :)

I really like Okko. It plays in a cinematic way with characters retreating and loosing their nerve.

The standups are ok to play but the black silhouette used for the back of the figure detracts from play even when you paint their names on. A few of the figures look very similar when viewed from the rear and you often have to check the front to see who is who.

I did get the figure for Oni Bushi which is a very close representation to the standup however it seems somewhat expensive compared to other games. A plastic set (painted or not) would be fantastic. Hopefully their is an expansion sometime in the future.

Thanks for your take on the game. It has made me more interested in Okko.

A lot of the points you are raising are being addressed in the link below. Why not head over to BGG and make your thoughts known to the designer and producer of the metal minis.
