Race Selection Stats?

By machinebede1, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I'm curious what the racial selection statistics are for EotE. Which race is most often chosen and which is least? I see quite a few Trandoshans and Wookies but very few people writing about Bothans or Gands. What is your experience or are there any official statistics out there?

Gand have mainly human players, one rodian and a droid.

Oh, and a Cathar, but there isn't an official write up of the species, yet.

Gand have not Trandoshans or Wookiees in the player group. Gand really wish for a Gand, Gand would love to play a Gand.

In my group we are two humans with two twi'lek, a Trandoshan and a Wookie.

But no gands nor Bothans (though i nearly went for the latter).

We have two humans, one droid, one Wookie and a Twi'lek.

Seems a reasonably normal party...

I have a Gand in my group, plus two humans, a Rodian and a Droid.

We have a Chadra-Fan, a Jawa, a Rodian, a Bothan, and a droid

I haven't had a chance to play as a player. when I do, I already have an idea for a Bothan Outlaw Tech. Or maybe a Chiss if Enter the Unknown comes out before then.

In my group we have mostly humans. Mechanically I feel they are a great choice, and many of my players find it easy to roleplay a character that's physically similar to them. Besides our many humans, we have a Wookiee pilot and a Trandoshan marauder.

Humans seem a bit too good, mechanically... But they'd be popular anyway. All the important people in the movies are mostly human.

Must admit, I'm never sure how Bothans made it into both EoE and AoR. We don't use the EU much, but are they that popular and iconic compared to, say, wookiees or twi'leks?

I actually asked my players nicely if 2 of them would mind playing humans, I indicated that in the state in which the Empire is in it would be very inconvenient to play an all alien party.

Mind you, I didn't forbid them to do this nor did I force them to play human but it turned out two of them were already thinking about doing so anyway and just needed this final push.

One is the pilot, the other is a politico. The politico is a very cool character... Very cool indeed.

Gand Explorer, Wook Smuggler, Human Outlaw Tech and a Faleen Bounty Hunter

Not a bad spread actually...

I have the combo platter. I've got a rodian tech, trando marauder, human smuggler, Gand scout, droid assassin, and twilek senator. The twilek replaced a bothan politico , who moved too far to play.

Only thing I haven't had is a wookie.

I've got a Jawa assassin, Twi'lek doctor, Dug pilot and finally a human psychopathic hired gun.

We have a Wookiee, a Trandoshan and 4 humans. We did have a Kaleesh Cyborg but she got blown up!

Many Bothans died to bring you this information.

Alas it seems to be what they do best. :-(

Jawa assassin

Awesome. Just Awesome.

I'va got a Gand, a Wookie, a Droid (who thinks its a human), a medical droid, 2 humans, a bothan and a nautolan.

The Krayt Dragons are currently:

Twi'lek Smuggler

Human Colonist/Force-sensitive Exile

Wookiee Hired Gun

Rodian Explorer

Human Bounty Hunter

Droid Mechanic

With a Chiss as a potential replacement, and I'll play a Space Weasel when Suns of Fortune comes out.

Jawa assassin

Awesome. Just Awesome.

And to coomunicate with the world he carries the torn of head of a protocol droid in his belt. The protocol droid "translates" everything the Jawa says, generally excusing his masters action profusely.

Chiss, Zabrak, Trandoshan, human and Rodian in my party...

We have a human smuggler, human mechanic, droid marauder, trandoshan doctor, a human politico. That's the core group at least. Occasionally we have a human FSE/Assassin, and a Gand Bounty Hunter of some type.

The crew of the Misfit V (jokingly called "Sexy" until the Pilot and Engineer balked at the comments made by The Face and The Doctor) consists of:

A Twi'lek Scoundrel/Mercenary Soldier (The Pilot)

A Zeltron Politico/Assassin (The Face)

A Jawa Outlaw Tech/Mechanic (The Engineer)

A Dashade Doctor/Marauder (The Doctor)

and the newest addition: a Human Gadgeteer/Bodyguard (The Gun-nut).

(Note: I allowed the players a "free" second Talent Tree of their choosing to show the "experience" of what they've done prior to the game).

I did warn the players that aliens are second class citizens in the Empire (and even explained that with the story that brought them into the game), but they dug in their heels and are now fighting the system. Hilarity is ensuing every session.

Human Doctor

Twi'lek Smuggler

Chiss Maurader

Droid thief

Previous group was

Human Smuggler

Jawa Mechanic

Human Bodyguard

(green squid race with black eyes, forgot name) Jensarri

The group for the game I'm in consists of the following:

Male Human "Force-sensitive street rat" (Smuggler/Scoundrel/Jedi Initiatie)

Female Bothan archeologist/researcher (Colonist/Scholar)

Male Wookiee gearhead (Mechanic/Outlaw Tech)

Droid research assistant (Explorer/Scout/Trader; player sadly had to leave the group due to real life concerns)
Female Chiss mercenary (Hired Gun/Mercenary Soldier, Chiss stats are from Unofficial Species Menagerie)

I think we might be adding a replacement for the droid, but no clue what that character will be.

So we've got a pretty solid mix, with only a single Human in the party, though to be fair the Chiss version that I wrote up for the USM is also mechanically appealing (110 XP, +1 to Wound & Strain Threshold compared to a Human), which may or may not have played a roll.

With a complete group:

Human hired gun merc

Wookiee hired gun marauder

Droid bounty hunter gadgeteer

Human colonist politico/FSE

Human colonist doctor

Twilek smuggler scoundrel

Twilek smuggler pilot

7 players? Wow... I'd hate to GM that many!
