Looking for Players (Google Docs)

By Serif Marak, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

So, here's what's up: I run a small group at home. It's fun, we banter, but they aren't really into the 'Get into character' bit. And that's kinda frustrating. Because then I slack on developing the story and I stop using details.

It sucks.
That's where you come in, you basement dwelling dorks. I want five (maybe more, I'll settle for less, but five is my magic number) people to get in contact with me, show that you have acceptable roleplaying skills, work with me to create your character, and join me, and together we can rule the galaxy as father and son!
....
Wait.

Anyways, here's the details.
First, we will be roleplaying in Google Docs.
I cannot begin to explain how great a tool Google Docs has been for just my small group. I am able to give detailed information about piddly characters, keep exact track of everything the group is doing, and share that information with the group. It is an amazing tool. Like the entire cast of the Jersey Shore, but actually useful.
Second, I have the dice app for SW:EoE. Although we will be using a doc created by a member of this site, I am looking for people that are okay with me handling the dice rolls. I don't want to have to worry about webcam chats for players to show their rolls or players just lying about the roll. I can develop the story however the roll turns out; I have no reason to sabotage or lie about the outcome of the roll. I am open to reasonable options.
Third, I want people that are willing to trust my word. I have no issue with a polite challenge to a ruling, but if I am being questioned constantly about "Are you sure you didn't just make that up?", it is going to get old fast. Truth is, I have plenty enough that I have to just make up. I am more than happy to leave outcomes of rolls to the dice. I already have to explain how the dice roll affects the situation anyways. >.> Also, if I fudge results of a roll, it tends to be in the players favor anyways. I have an issue with a failure roll so epic that it SHOULD mean a Player Character dies. It just doesn't feel right. lol
Fourth, I need people with similar schedules to my own. I am not talking about playing EVERY night, but if we could pick a day or a time once a week that we can all settle on, that would be fine. A few nights a week would be even better.
I work 8-5, Monday-Friday, with weekends off. I live in time zone GMT-7. Or Mountain Time for you Americans who can't figure out this metric ****.

Anyways, reply if you're interested. I'd like to get this started sometime this weekend, really.
If you are unwilling to use Google Docs, please don't apply. I am looking to have people online together in real time. And I can't stress how awesome Google Docs is.
Seriously. It turns my software into hardware.

Can't read your post. Black type on dark grey background makes it unreadable.

I edited the color. Weird, that it would default to black with such a dark background.... >.>

I'd be interested in giving a Google Docs game a try.

I would definitely be interested but it would have to depend on the day and time, I live in the UK. Out of curiosity would you allow species from the GSA's Species Menagerie?

Great! Send me an e-mail @ [email protected]

We have started the game, but we are not far into it and it won't be hard to tie another character in real quick. We will likely continue tomorrow night after one of the players gets off of work. Which may be the same time as me, depending on how my mom is doing. If she's still bad off, I won't be going in. >.>

I would be willing to take a look at it, but unfortunately, most of our game wouldn't even start until after midnight your time. Except maybe on the weekends. But that's, like, one game a week. Dramatic sad face.

Update: Wasn't recruiting, am now. Just one for now though. I might take another here later this week.

I'm interested. What's the party composition?

Fairly balanced so far. I won't say too much because they don't even know much about each other, but they could use some more firepower or a doctor. But I won't turn away anything else that you might have taken a liking too. :3

if you've still got an opening, i'd be interested.

I'm curious as to HOW you use google docs (which is technically google DRIVE these days). I've saved tons of reference PDF's and homebrew stuff into my campaign gDrive from off these forums and plenty of other resources but players arent utilizing them.

Can you share some examples?

View/edit of documents is a privilege that the owner can bestow, which would allow users with the privilege to edit the document - i.e. post in new messages.

Sorry Diggles, work beckoned to me. Gotta pay my bills in order to afford to be a nerd all night.

Kshatriya is right. It allows multiple people to view the same information as it is updated. If I add something, everyone can see it immediately. Likewise, the reverse is true.
