What are the best squads u have played that use Biggs Darklighter?

I played against a guy running with Wedge, Luke, and Biggs. He had swarm tactics as an upgrade on Wedge. He was tough. He kept Biggs close to Wedge to draw fire off of wedge.

If you give Luke "Draw Their Fire" and "R2-D2", he helps keep Biggs alive. I like to give Biggs R2-F2 to help him survive more, but that means grabbing a focus from elsewhere. That usually would mean Garven Dreis, but that means Biggs doesn't get the focus until the level 6 pilots shoot.

Luckily, Kyle Katarn is a thing that exists now.

Biggs Darklighter

+ R2-F2

+ Stealth Device

[31]

Luke Skywalker

+ R2-D2

+ Draw Their Fire

[33]

Kyle Katarn
+ Blaster Turret

+ Recon Specialist

+ Moldy Crow

[31]

This leaves 5 points left over for salt and pepper

The toughest match I had with Biggs was against a player who kept Biggs on the periphery. I think his list had Luke and Dutch. He kept Biggs far enough away that unless I pulled away from the fight, two of three ships a turn had to take long range shots or shots through asteroids. A lot of people seem to send Biggs right up with the other pilots and he dies right away, not being able to use his ability at all. This was the first time I realized how useful Biggs could be.

This is why I like to use R2-F2 and Stealth Device on my Biggs: You can consistantly get 5 dice in the early game, which is way more free damage from your other ships. Adding an X wing with R2-D2 and Draw Their Fire (I pick Luke) means he avoids any Crits, and stays alive fr longer. One green maneuver later, and that Crit might as well not have been rolled.

clearly having biggs in ur squad and USING him optimally are two quite different things. The trick is to keep him alive by supporting him as well as positioning him at long range and/or with cover from asteroids whenever possible.

i think some ppl make the mistake of loading him up with lots of defensive upgrades and then throw him into the front like to get cut to pieces in 1-2 turns.

Biggs and Luke with r2-d2 + draw thier fire + whatever else you want is the best start.

I'm not sure how much investing to do in Biggs really. I mean the point is for him to die first so how many more points do you want to out on him? More than 4-5 seems like you're downgrading your other options too much, especially if you're keeping him back and out of optimum offense range himself.

You're paying for those Xwing attack points so you better use some.

I image Biggs ability would be even more useful on a ywing or other tougher frame with less offense. Well, maybe not more useful, but even better at defending and more cost efficient.

You could also try Chewbacca, Wedge, and Biggs + R2-D2. Makes 100 points if I remember correctly.

Here's my list at 99

Biggs, R2D2, Shield

Luke, Draw Their Fire, Shield

Wedge, R2, Push the Limit

If you want more protection, you can drop PTR and R2 for another Shield.

The point is to keep the back but within range of the enemy, thus having the opponent toss dice into him while you evade + soak + regen shields. Luke pulls any of the crits that go through onto his craft to spread out the damage. Wedge is geared for pure damage, PTR allowing him to TL + Focus while recovering off any any 1-2 maneuver.

Here's a squad I used for casual play. I'm sure there's plenty of room for improvement, but it was pretty fun.

Biggs, R2-D2, Shield Upgrade (33)

Kyle Katarn, Moldy Crow, Blaster Turret, Recon Specialist (31)

Ten Numb, Autoblaster (36)

Kyle builds up focus and hands them out or uses them for his blaster turret. Biggs draws fire while R2 repairs his shields. Ten blows stuff up.

I have ran the Super X-wing list before, Biggs, Luke, and Wedge, and its been my most successful list to date. A variant of it I really enjoy was Biggs, Wedge, and Tycho. Im not sure I have tycho figured out yet, but he is a lot of fun. Those maneuvering options coupled with the fact he ignores most effects of stress is absolutely disgusting to fight. I think this is a great list though:

Wedge with PTL and r2 astromech

Biggs

Chewbacca

I have ran the Super X-wing list before, Biggs, Luke, and Wedge, and its been my most successful list to date.

I just played these three today.. I used a variant of my original list from my old thread.

Wedge 38pts

-advanced proton torp

-push the limits

Luke 37pts

-advanced proton torp

-push the limits

Biggs 25pts

I played against howl and two academy ties, mareek stele and vader. Obviously my tactics was to use biggs as a meat shield to get my torps off. 2nd turn i vaped howl before he got a shot off with wedge... I was skeptical on using the torps as they cost so much, taking out howl that early paid for both torps and then some.

I still need to try draw their fire and r2d2, i've been suggested that before.

One of the things I like most about this game is how the good lists from original release are still good after wave 3. I think Wedge, Luke and Biggs still a great combo. All three have relativly high Piloting Skill, so they will reward an experienced player. Once you have them you just have o decide what upgrades to give them.

The only change I'd make is drop Luke's torp to a normal Proton and give both his and Wedge's fighter an R2 to deal with the stress generated by using PTL.

I have played a few lists with Biggs, shant name them all but have had a lot of fun with this one recently, 3-1 to me so far.

Wedge + swarm

Biggs + r2f2 + stealth

Jan ors + squad leader + blaster + mouldy + recon

99pts

I find Biggs with this set up and possible focus from SqL and firing first most times with the swarm tactics and initiative really helps him live longer and keep his stealth longer if you can take out at least one set of guns attack8ng you each turn.

Twice in one game I was rolling 6 evade dice with biggs.

Jan helps prevent people sneaking round the flanks.

You do have to be slow and predictable the first two turns at least to generate enough focus tokens on jan.

I agree with people saying don't spend too many points on Biggs he is just going to die, but i am happy as long ad i spend less than 33pts so that in a tourney the opposition has to at least kill anothet ship.

Just wanted to add.

Has occurred to me Biggs may be coming baxk into fassion if all these alpha strike bomber squads provr popular as it will force them to use primary weapons instead, potentially delaying them long enough to be killed or critted out of the game.

Biggs

I never used Biggs ^^

I've used this against some very savvy friends, but never in tournaments. It has been really successful unless Biggs gets a bad roll.

Kyle Katarn

Recon Specialist

Moldy Crow

Biggs

R2-F2

Stealth Device

The formation is Wedge and Kyle up front, Biggs centered between the two, and as far back within range 1 as possible, and angled if possible so he is behind an asteroid for the opening salvo. Biggs uses R2-F2 each turn for 4 or more defense dice. Kyle banks 1 focus for collisions, passes one each turn to Biggs or Wedge (depending on how many people can hit Biggs), then tries to disable a ship each round with the Ion cannon. Wedge exposes for as long as Biggs is around, and ideally goes after any ship that Kyle has disabled. You should get a couple of good 4 or 5 dice attacks from Wedge before Biggs goes down, and hopefully by then you've taken out a key player on the enemy team. The weakness is collisions, and off angle attacks, so solid formation flying is a must.

hmm yes that was something I've been thinking about as well. I noticed myself wishing I had R2 astros while i was playing trying to dump stress.

The only change I'd make is possibly adding a Draw-Their-Fire/R2-D2 combo into the mix. This out-damages it, but DTF+R2-D2 adds to Biggs' survivability, giving you more turns of ouchie.
