New Warhammer 40K Role Playing Podcast

By ozorion, in Rogue Trader

Hello all,

First off, I apologise about cross-posting in to each of the different game forums - I figured it was the best way to get this out there.

A friend of mine and I have recently recorded the first episode of a new podcasting series devoted to Warhammer 40k role playing - specifically the Fantasy Flight Games systems. We are looking for some "beta testers" to have a listen to our first episode and provide some feedback.

We're basically looking for thoughts on the content, the layout, the sound quality - basically whether this is the sort of thing you would actually listen to. We originally targeted a 90 minute show, but after recording we had over three hours - we've been able to cut the final product down to just over 2 hours.

Please feel free to take a listen and provide your feedback. Provided there is enough interest, we'd like to keep the series going and start churning out casts on a regular basis. In order to prevent the dreaded pod-fade, we've made sure we always have five episodes planning in advance.

The cast can be downloaded at http://www.grimdarkpodcast.com/GrimDarkPodcastEp1.mp3 - I had some issues the first time I uploaded it but the second time around it seemed to work. With that being said, I didn't listen to the whole show again on the site, so if there are any audio dramas with the file, I apologise.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message, and hopefully taking the time to listen to the cast and provide your feedback.

Cheers,

James - @GrimDarkJames

Nice to see. Listening to it now and will update post.

Edit: Just noticing early on there is a bit of echo after the music finishes when you are talking. Not terribly major but it is a niggling annoyance. It also continues whenever the first of you that talks speaks.

I don't agree that Rogue traders will always do whats best of the imperium/mankind. Some Rogue trader ARE short sighted or insane or just only care for their own agendas and goals and **** the consequences.

(Will update more soon)

Overall good so far. Keep up the good work with this. Potential here.

Thank you for the feedback. By and large the feedback we have received so far has been positive, so we're committed to carrying his project forward. We submitted the podcast feed to iTunes the other day for approval and we're planning to record the next episode this weekend.

Re the echo / audio dramas - as we're not recording in the same location, we made the decision to individually record our audio feeds and then use Audacity to combine them. Unfortunately Mike's headset has some issue that was bringing some of what he was hearing in to the mic - when I silenced my own channel I could still hear myself quietly on his channel. This was handy for syncing the two sides, but when it was out of sync, it created the echo. Towards the end of the cast I found it easier just to mute the segments where Mike wasn't talking, rather than trying to fine tune the sync.

We used gaming headsets for the first episode, neither of which had pop filters on the microphones, so now that we're committed to going ahead, we're going to get some more professional recording gear.

Once again, thank you for the feedback, and hopefully you will enjoy the show going forward.

No problem James. Nothing major issue wise. It's just nice listening to people with passions for the hobby :) . Best of luck with your project.
