YT-2000 "Otana"

By Laserschwert, in X-Wing

It is amusing to see some of the earlier comments in the thread following Wave 8 and 9.

25 point turret? Check.

Astromech + crew combination? Check.

With emon on the scum firespray I figured a scum yt2000 was a shoe in for their pwt.

But I guess Jumpmaster took that spot instead...for now at least.

Bring this in for Wave 10 expansion for S&V with Gunboat and Tie Avenger since we all want these ships from the PC games 20 years ago

Not only was in Necro'd, also managed to get a Gunboat mention in there too. The Gunboat is dead bro. They arent going to bring in this ship. There are other ships that fit this niche already for the Imperials.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with "necro'ing" a topic if it includes content relevant to the subject you want to discuss Archangelspiv.

That IS what the forum search control is for, after all.

Yet this topic is for YT-2000, not the stupid gunboat, which someone has yet again tried to subtly shoehorn into another topic where it doesn't belong.

"I want this in wave 10 with the gunboat"

Given the recent influx of spam of people bringing up gunboats in every thread imaginable because we didn't get one for wave 9, this is nothing more than a pathetic attempt to continue this sort of childish behavior. Why not elaborate on why you want the YT-2000 in wave 10? no, let's just throw in an obscure reference so that FFG might see another person mentioning the stupid thing.

Personally, I want the Otana in as a scum heavy ship, heavier than the YV-666, something like the Deci's stat line, but with cannon upgrade, and 2 crew slots. Unfortunately the toilet seat already fills the medium turret seat, so i'm not sure what it could bring to the table, other than looking cool.Of course that is the problem with a Falcon look alike.

If you don't want to talk about the Gunboat, then don't talk about the Gunboat FlyingAnchors. You've mentioned it more than anyone else in the topic, when you could quite easily just have ignored the post.

So, BACK ON TOPIC...

The YT-2000 made it's FFG game debut in last year's Edge of the Empire expansion, Fly Casual, which was approved by Disney. What's that mean? Not much, other than FFG have implemented rules for it in one of their games, along with some lovely artwork like the above.

It's best chance of appearing in the game at this stage is probably with a cameo in Rebels, or one of the Anthology films.

And would it be a Rebel ship, or Scum? Ace joined the Alliance, but you'd really want the family to fly together, and that mean's Scum.

I'm glad you said that, wasn't sure whether to start a new thread or ask my question in this one.

I've recently bought the YT-2000 model myself, but I don't like stats on the cards people have produced. Looking at the meta data for X-Wing Alliance (where the ship originally came from), it's tougher than the Falcon, but the cards people have made so far haven't reflected that.

I can't remember how I worked it out, but I came to the below stats (the hull was maybe a bit more but I brought it down.) I made it 3 red dice as the falcon haynes manual says how the YT-2000 had stronger weapons and shields that it's predecessor. I used the YT-1300 dial for convenience, and I used http://cardcreator.atelierdufaucon.com/ to work out the squad point cost. I made it scum because 1.) it would be broken with C-3PO and 2.) the Azzameens are fairly independent (only Ace joins the rebellion fully.) I didn't add an illicit as the Azzameens were always weary of Imperial repercussions

twinsuns.png .

It's had two playtest matches so far, absolutely steamrollered one and lost to a Decimator Phantom build (with only 1 hull left on the Phantom.) My opponent was happy with the match and felt the ship was balanced.

I was wondering what people's thoughts are on the stats?

At 14 hits, it's got more hits than some of the Huge ships. It's also close to 0 agility territory (YV-666 and the Falcon are 12 and 13 hits with one green die, Decimator and Ghost are 16 hits and 0 green dice.)

Would be interested to know people's thoughts.

Thanks,

Dan

there's really no reason to ever design another PWT ever again

I disagree with the YT-2000 being a Scum ship. Emon may be Scum (no offence, Emon), but in the parts of the game after Ace joined the Rebellion, the Otana seems pretty solidly his ship. And this makes sense, as Emon has his own ship and Aeron is the only one of the three to have actually lost a ship she was piloting, so would you trust her with something as expensive as a YT-2000? (Depending on player skill, Ace may have had many ships destroyed as he piloted them, as well, but he at least seems to have good enough insurance that they're always replaced perfectly when you restart the mission.) Additionally, the Otana always seems to be stationed on whichever ship Ace is currently serving rather than with his siblings (with whom he's often needing to travel to meet).

I like the idea of the siblings flying together, but even the ones not actually in the Rebellion seem pretty solidly pro-Rebel, and I can't really picture the Azzameens flying alongside pirates, Black Sun, and bounty hunters (especially since they likely have Imperial bounties on them). If anything, Emon should be Rebel, even if he is a bit more independent. I mean, if the YT-2400 is Rebel, the Azzameens can make at least as good a case!

Only problem with that analysis is, if we go by the game (I may be wrong as I've yet to complete it) I don't think Ace ever flew the Otana for the Alliance - only in the family missions. Most of which (smuggling, revenge, sabotage etc) would probably fall under the provenance of Scum.

All of which could also fall under the Rebellion category, depending on what's actually being accomplished, but I see your point (though, did they ever really smuggle anything? I guess trying to plant spice at the Viraxo facility would technically involve smuggling it there in the first place, but I'm not sure. Time to replay the game again!)

To me, though, it just doesn't seem to really fit with most of the rest of the Scum faction, as I've always viewed Scum as more "neutral" or "3rd faction" and the Azzameens seem pretty solidly pro-Rebel and Rebel-supporting, even if they're not technically members of the Rebellion.

Perhaps the Scum faction should have as subfactions "Scum and Villainy" and "Independent Forces", being this last one militias, armed civilians, planetary armies, third parties and other groups that while not considered part of either the Empire or the Alliance, aren't really criminals, pirates or other low class individuals or organizations.

All YTs fall perfectly into smuggler\merc category and as such should be S&V, with more aggressive\elusive pilot abilities.

Like Han who suddenly cares not about hitting, but instead about not being hit

Lando is no longer da boss, but is a smart-ass and slippery fellow, and Dash is not an asteroid-hugger, but simply a guy who knows when to knock the doors down.

simple scum for all other pilots but Ace gets both a scum and rebel pilot card and the rebel one would have an additional advantage for being part of the alliance, but cost more obviously.

don't forget the droids they had too for crew.

Rebel alliance isn't an advantage by any means >:c

unless there's "PLOT ARMOUR" EPT that's Rebel only

wise fwom yo gwave is awways wewwavent.

Haven’t thought on the details, but what if the Otana would be the first ship released to be playable by Rebels and Scum, where you have some restrictions while playing with one that don’t have with the other and vice versa, besides of course the upgrade cards that are already restricted to only a faction

I get it, there are others that can be played on both sides, but I mean a boxset that includes the "tools" for both factions

They did sneak salvaged Imperial Probe droid parts past an Imperial Customs checkpoint in the Otana - for family use, not Alliance - which I imagine counts as smuggling.

Certainly the customs officers weren't too happy when you refused to kill your engines and instead made a break for it

Nah, I'm sure they loved it! It made their day more exciting, which always makes the shift go by quicker!

Although you can certainly have Ace as a Rebel pilot, the Azzameen family is definitely Scum.

Just because they have their hearts in their right places, doesn't mean they're not free agents (see Car'das cartel [the Scyk army]). And that's what Scum is all about.

Aside from that, it's awesome to see some predictions come to fruition, like the Aeron crew card posted some pages back (which would become what we know today as Security Droid K4).

It's catch 22 of a forum. If you start a new thread, people say you should have searched. If you raise an old thread, people say you should start a new thread.

You can't win!
