Imperial Customs Corvette Kit Bash

By Viceroy Bolda, in X-Wing

In the name of the emperor...but this emperor ain't a dickie-doo that raises prices 4 times a year, and obsoletes your entire army every other year.

I find your lack of prise-raising disturbing!

I agree. It would be kind-of cool if ffg released a few unpainted minis or capital ship kits. The warhammer guys have to paint all of their stuff, and look how popular that game has become.

And low unto the well mannered and basically fun-loving nice gamers, for did come forth into the convention hall the braggards with there unclean bodies and their multitudinous hordes of black primed over priced plastic armies of crap that will be obsolete next year!

Oh Glory!

Been there and ain't never going back!

EVAH!

:D

Here are some new images. I do not have the best camera so I appologize for the poor quality. IMG_2063.jpg

Here you can see where I plan to hide the batteries. The bridge will come off to reveal the battery compartment.

Also, I bought these turrets on shapeways and don't use them much. What do you guys think? Are they keepers for the ship?

I'd chop off the lower half of each gun tower.

I used these as well (Mel's Miniatures) and I cut them in half and they look good. Then I gave them a base insert and a magnet.

Looking good brother looking good. Yeah, cut down the turret heights.

I cut down the turrets and they look much better. I'll glue them later, but here is a preview of about where they'll be. IMG_2079.jpg

I also started to add crew and a droid. Here you can see the inspection commander giving orders. "Good, our first catch of the day."

Nice work Viceroy Bolda!!!! That’s one beautiful ship!

Joe Boss Red Seven, do you have a website for your figures?

Hi BJ. No just the B6*R7 Blog but I will open a Pay Pal store there. I am working on the sculptures for the next three months, so early spring is my goal to start sales. Keep an eye on the blog to see previews if you like.

:)

More progress documented by my grabe-b camera. IMG_2090.jpg

Yes! I love turbo laser turrets!

The LGS casual players have talked about turbo lasers quite a bit. We give the small ships +1 agility against them. Large ships would roll as usual (YTs, firespray, Lambda, GR45, CR90, DP20, etc).

Someone also recommended that turbolaser hits should count for two damage. What are y'alls thoughts on that?

Turbolasers need to be effective if they hit. So giving an extra Agility die is good (Yes please says the Y wing!). Two damage is a possibility, what about an insta-kill on a critical? OK maybe not that lethal but still highly damaging.

The turrets look quality!!

The ship looks so cool,. looking forward to seeing even more progress!

This picture has a little more detail but most of the scribing cannot be seen. I tried to match the new pieces to the old. I'll paint the turrets to match the ship.

I am right with you on this one DB.

Go Bro!

Looks really good! I'm not sure why you didn't just scratchbuild it, since that's not far off from kitbashing in all honesty, but it's still going great. :)

What are you thinking about using for the greebles? There are a lot of model kit lots on eBay at the moment which have parts aplenty for a project like this. Also, you could ask someone at a model club if they have any on hand you could have if you don't already have parts for a project like this.

A complement from you on this project is profound. Thank you for the kind words.

After completing the DP20 scratchbuild I wanted to make an imp ship. I saw the Clone Wars Star Destroyer model and thought it would be nice to have some of the pieces pre-made. I've used many of the pieces from this kit in ways which they were unintended for, for better! It is kind-of nice having some pieces already. The engines and bridge tower were mostly finished. Sometimes I look at some of the work I need to do and think to myself, "I wouldn't have to fill/sand/etc if this was a scratchbuild. On the flipside, I've saved a lot of time by not having to greeble/score so much. I greebled yesterday. I used polystyrene scraps from this project. My dad models battleships and my brother models tanks. I've done tanks, airplanes, and cars (I failed cars). I used my leftovers as well as theirs for the DP20. IMO, imp greebling is more geometric.

I'll scratch build my next one. I like that better. Action IV transport.

A view of the docking bridge during painting. The R2 unit is smaller than a grain of rice.

Thanks. beedee beedee beedee.

Is it just me or does it look like this ship is being crewed by Kraftwerk?

Excellent build though.
