so how much financial reward are you giving out to a character on average for a session? i'm wary of provided too much or too little.

Not much 5k for a job and/or obligation reduction. On top of that you have to removed costs and expenses.

The last job they earned a huge 35,000 but ended up having to buy a new ship so they kept 1k per player (5k) and the had to take an additional 5 obligation each to a Hutt to finance the balance of the ship.

Edge of the Empire is all about keeping your characters in debt or under a favor.

instead of giving loads amonts of credits, offer them ship or equipment.

It'll keep their mind busy, and the players will always find other means to gain money (selling loot etc..)

If not, they can endebt themselves and gain obligation through that.

At least this is how I perceive it.

Ship repairs are one of the motivating factors for GMs to lay tons of credits on the players. At the suggested 500cr per hull point, it can get expensive fast. However that price is just a default, so if you want to change it, or assume that all the reward credits come after ship repairs, docking fees, powerpacks, evergy cells, fuel, navcom updates, and so on, that OK too.

If you are a new gm you probably have enough to worry about other then the sales tax on naboo so no one will hold it against you if you simplify things a little to focus on actual gameplay.
