The Great Debate #16: Your Favorite Skill/Exhibit Item/Monster

By Guest, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

My fav skill:

I know it's not tier 1, and I don't even have KH, but it seems like a lot of fun.

My fav exhibit:

I know, I know, but it's one of the very few exhibit items I am happy to draw.

My fav monster:

Granted, I don't have KH, but he seems like a lot of fun to play.

What about you?

Previous Great Debates

My favorite skills are probably Mythos Lore and Grapple. I always squeal (internally) when I get one. But I do like the KH "free success" ones pretty well too.

As far as exhibit items go, I do like to see the Parchment... but I like to see the Scales of Thoth more! Nothing like going completely ape against tough monsters.

Tough to say which monster is my favorite. Nightgaunts and Mi-Go are fun to see for their helpfulness. As far as theme goes, it's difficult to say which monster I like most—possibly Color out of Space. But I enjoy seeing any Mask monster because they're a bit rare. I like the Dunwich Horror too for its variable stats and element of impending doom.

My favorite skill is definatly Mythos Lore

Exhibit Item: Book of Anubis (save the clue tokens save the world!)

Fav. Monster? Whay that would have to be the Star Vampire, also lovingly refered to in my group as Captain 3's.

Favorite skill... in general anything that boosts fight or speed is welcome. For a specific skill I suppose Mythos Lore, both thematically and mechanically.

Scales of Thoth and Tablet of Bast are both incredibly helpful. Pentagram of Blood is an awesome mechanic, even if it doesn't work well in practice.

Hmm... monsters... well, obviously I like fighting things like Zombies and Cultists, but for cool points I go for Shoggoth, Star Spawn and The Dunwich Horror.

Expert Occultist because it makes me turn Mark into a spell user! lol

Pentagram of Blood... its so stupid its fun and saved out Bacon Once... held all the Mythos Spawn in the Witch House.

Shan It kills you and its funny.

umm not with 3 sanity it isn't...

I hate it when my non-spellcaster gets Expert Occulist. The +1 lore skills and +1 for lore dice I can live with, as there's lore checks here and there, but expert occulist is the worst I can ever hope for a non-spellcaster. The game is ruined for me when I get it. I actually wouldn't mind getting the auto-success a spell check skill for a non-spellcaster, as it may come in handy later if I get a spell and this allows me to cast it and still keep my luck on highest. Expert Occulist is by far my most hated skill in the game. I'm not even happy to draw it for a spell-caster, although I can live with it.

Whiter, Find Gate makes it worth your while.

Joe Diamond did never shine brighter.

Favorite Exhibit Item:

Used at the right moment, it turns the game upside-down.

And finally:

Cause it's always nice to have one waiting at the gate when you're returning home.

For me I think I like Will +1 the best for a skill. It isn't as flashy as some of the others, but it helps just about any investigator. For the monster, it's hard to turn down a Mi-Go for the free unique item. I haven't played enough with CotDP to comment on Exhibit items (I have not read them all on purpose so when a new one pops up, i am surprised/delighted.

@kroan: you should run a Great Debate on combos (card, player, etc. interactions). I think it would be very interesting to see what tricks people have found.

I don't really have a particular favorite skill. A skill is a favorite if it fits well to the investigator gran_risa.gif I also like the ones that increase the numbers you roll by one.

I don't have a favorite exhibit, yet. I don't think I've even seen all of them. I could list a couple I don't like, though...

Monsters: Mi-Go! And the ones that jump to locations (Hound of Tindalos and ... Hunting Horror, right?)
