Bwings ... vs swarm

By Cerealthief, in X-Wing Battle Reports

Ibti FCS assault missiles PTL

Tenn FCS proton torps

Biggs

vs

2 interceptors

4 fighters

Game 1 I lost Tenn and lost a few shields but not much else. The assault missiles smashed the swarm into pieces and the protons killed one interceptor turn 1. He had an up hill struggle from there.

Biggs and Tenn got separated due to Tenn's short turns but I kept the two Bwings together and concetrated fire.

Game 2 he switched a few characters around and tried a new tactic... assault missiles took out 1 tie interceptor and hurt 3 ties, protons did nothing.... but from there I did loads of damage until he only had fenir and mauler left, both wounded. Should be easy but I missed two big shots and forgot I was stressed with Ibti and watched my opponent send him on a wild goose chase.
Lost biggs, lost Ibti but then Tenn remembered what a crit was and finished them off

Your list is illegal. Ibtisam can only carry Proton Torpedoes. Assault Missiles (along with any other missiles) are not allowed on a B-Wing.

Yub Yub, Commander!

Oh balls!! I wondered why my original list was 99pts when I could upgrade the protons I had on him up to assaults...
Ball balls balls!

I flew this today:

Blue Squad B-Wing with HLC and Sensor Jammer

Blue Squad B-Wing with HLC and Sensor Jammer

Outter Rim Smuggler with Saboteur, Merc CoPilot, Anti-Pursuit Lasers, Millennium Falcon Title Card

Fought 5 (2 8ship and 3 7ship) Swarms, lost 1 ship per game, usually the smuggler, but most of the time it was "smash everything TiE on the board" kind of fun. Sensor Jammer is a must have for me on the B-wing. It pays for itself multiple times over the course of the game. Saboteur while situational actually worked pretty dang well most of the time. I'm sure the ORS could jave some other stuff that is more useful on it, or be subbed for a Y-wing w/Ion or a HWK-290 but it was mainly for blocking and soaking hits while the b-wings destroyed everything in sight.

Give that list a try. Fly the smuggler out front and try to keep the b-wings at range 2 if possible.

That actually sounds awesome, i'll give it a try next time i play

I wondered where the Assault Missiles came from..

I'm a big proponent of Hyper-Mobile B-wings: that is to say a B-Wing with Advanced Sensors and an Engine Upgrade. Any maneuver you do with that combo has 10 possible starting locations, and one of those has 10 possible landings, giving you 19 ending spots on non-red maneuvers. Moreover, you can BankBoost before doing a 2 Koiogran, for one heck of a surprise!

It's even worse if you pick Ibtisam or Ten Nunb and add the "Daredevil" pilot upgrade. That boosts your potential cloud of moves from 19 to 23, and increases the spread from 90* to 180*. Practice with this build means you can always land your B-Wing in range 1 of an enemy ship, outside of any of their firing arcs (unless you're up against Turrets or a YT). You could even do a Daredevil boost, followed by a green maneuver, to ensure that they have no idea where you will land next!

Basic HyperMobile B comes in at 29 points. Stupid-Mobile Ibtisam is at 38. Stupid-Mobile Ibtisam with a Stupid-Mobile Ten Numb lands at 79 points: enough to add a Rookie Pilot, a Green Squadron Pilot with a 2 point pilot upgrade, a Y wing with an Astromech Droid of some sort, or a Rebel Operative with a 5 point turret/copilot combo (Nien Nunb/ Intelligence Agent + Blaster Turret, or Ion Cannon Turret).

I concur with DraconPyrothayan here.

In fact, I've been running just Blues with Advanced Sensors, and even they are stupid-agile at 25 points. It's a very tactical tool that can practically moonwalk across the map once you're more familiar with their maneuvers.

Although it may be super maneuvrable my issue with the hyper bwing is when it is on none hero types.

I have been using engine upgrade and PTL with Ibtisam which I think is dandy. I use the movement to clear the stress then TL or focus then either do the other or boost into a better position.

The possible outcomes from a PTL engine upgrade Bwing are massive too. I can boost/barrelroll/focus/TL so not only are the positional possibilities high but the damage aid potential is high if I already slip into a good spot.

Now I need to get another B-wing, and give this a try.
