The Big Imperial Aces Pre-Order Conversation

By thesmallman, in X-Wing

Just going to buy one IA pack.

Its only a matter of time until another paint of the TIE Int is out. I'm a patient guy and do not see myself using more than three in any 100 point game.

I just like to be prepared. As a life long diehard fan of Star Wars, ever since 1980, you can never have to many of these sweet, sweet ships!

...need 8 more Interceptors, 38 more Fighters, 8 Bombers and 7 Lambdas to finish outfitting the Star Destroyer. Maybe I 'll just get 6 boxes and make them all Royal guards, sent to protect the derelict vessel until it is operational again.

I've ordered four sets 'cause I'm obsessive compulsive when it comes to uniformity in my forces. So I'll end up with four of each. But you can never have enough squints. We often play games on a 4'x8' table that one of our club members made into the Death Star Trench Run using the leftover cardboard from all of our expansions. We sometimes have as many as fifteen people playing at the same table.

I have 4 Ints right now (2 un-opened). I'm getting 2 IA sets, then getting rid of my two unopened Ints.

I have 4 squints too but mine are open. I'll still by 2 IA sets but get rid of 2 squints. That way I can still field 4 squints list 2 Royal Guard and 2 standard or 2 181st and 2 standard.

Okay I admit it; I'm doing it just for looks. But that actually is the primary reason I got into this game.

I have 3 interceptors, and have advance ordered 1 box. I'm tempted with 2, mainly for the cards and so I can run 2 181st interceptors, but I'll probably get my second box at a later date.

Literally three days before Imperial Aces was announced, I ordered my fifth Interceptor.

Because I'm completely neurotic about symmetry, I'm ordering two boxes of these.

The question is: How many of the Interceptors that I already have are going to get blood stripes...?

All of them, of course.

The real question is whether or not I'm going to scratch build the secondary solar panels onto the Royal Guard Squints... Nah, not really a question. Of course I am.

Man, I really don't get why some people go way overboard with this game:)

I'm not sure what you mean by overboard.. I have a fairly sizable fleet now, but I don't feel I've went overboard. I'll probably end up with 6 or so Interceptors, as I'm wanting to convert at least 2 EGI, and would like 2 or 3 Sabers.

I quite like fielding 4 B-Wing forces, Bomber wings which means at least 3 Bombers. A Tie Swarm is 8 ties.... I like having options so I don't get bored playing the same force every time.

Saying that, I'm not buying more (Except 1 Imp Aces) until I've painted everything I have.

What is a squint?

What is a squint?

TIE/In Interceptor...

Eyeballs are the standard TIE/Ln Fighter

Brights are X1 Advanced or Avengers

Dupes are TIE/Se Bombers.

Nicknames given to them by Rebel pilots

Thanks Rodent Master.

I definitely want two, because the Interceptor is one of my favorite ships. Love the alternate paint schemes, but I really wish the RGI had those extra wing-flaps I've seen on customs. They just add so much to the model.

I am getting one for sure so I can get the cards to play with. As far as the actual models go I am not too concerned. I already have 3 regular Tie Interceptors, and I painted my own bloodstripes on one of them. From the pictures I have seen I actually like the way that mine turned out a little bit better.

The bloodstripes on the official ones almost look a little too clean. I feel like they should have that look of being almost hand painted on.

maybe if you prod some of the people that do computer modeling they will make a conversion pack on Shapeways.

That would definitely be pretty sweet.
