Any of you know of worlds similar to Myrkr that have intrinsic properties that interfere with scanner readings? Of course, I can always just use Myrkr, but I'd prefer a planet or moon in the Outer Rim. I suppose I can come up with a custom location, but I'd also prefer to stick to an established one if possible. Thanks in advance!
Scanner-blocking worlds like Myrkr
Felucia is another one, as is Nyriaan.
Edited by awayputurwpnDagobah. At least whenever Yoda wants it to be scanner-resistant.
Counter Question: What are you hiding from and what are they scanning for? After all, technically speaking Coruscant is great for hiding from scanners too.
Mustafar probably looks like a bit of a mess on scanners.
Water worlds like Calamari and Manaan can't be easy to scan from orbit.
Oh, I should've specified. I want an outdoors, survivalist type of adventure where the crew can't just fly over the surface scanning for enemy facilities and/or ships. Forest, swamp, desert, or tundra are all possibilities, especially with dangerous animals. Thanks for the suggestions that have been posted so far
!
Ah, plenty of that out there. Depending on the resources and activities of the target almost any planet will do if you get a little cunning.
A merc encampment on Dantooine placed next to a lake can seal their generators and submerge them. Add in some camo netting and a simple sensor mask and from altitude the scanners would register them as just a collection of animals next to a lake (so just another nerf herd).
A smuggler's base concealed on an Noobian farm. Placed near a landing lane the smugglers just kick their load out the back as they fly over. By the time they reach the spaceport the ship is clean and the contraband has already been picked up out of the fields.
Oh, I should've specified some more, but thanks for the input, as those are great ideas I might use in the future! I need scanner interference in both directions, so the crew knows they need to proceed on foot and the enemies can't easily track the location of the crew's ship when it lands.
Hoth: scattered life, lots of "water" to soften readings, ice crystals to bounce and echo, and rugged mountains to block line of sight scanners. Asteroids and meteorites to hide incoming ships.
Korad or Raxis: junkyard planet, lots of metal, leaky old reactors, ect. Derelict hulls in orbit could hide the players ship easy.
Alderaan Graveyard: asteroid field, lots of scraps of civilization floating about, rumors of ghost ships and lost treasure, regular visits from random scavs, mourners, ect.
I have an adventure I created about the players being trapped on a planet and hunted by an insane Trandoshan. You can look up The Worlds Most Dangerous Game (or just check for my post on it, The Galaxies Most Dangerous Game). If you want a sensor disabling planet, you want it to be more unknown, so that it has a more mysterious setting.
sensors should be spotty, not completely useless. add several setback dice. perhaps threats give them false positives
