New player working on a list

By theavengingknee, in X-Wing

I have just recently started playing I was working on a list and wanted to get some feedback, the list does not need to be really competitive as there are currently no local tournaments.

3x academy pilots(tie fighters)
2x alpha squadron pilots(tie interceptors)
1x Scimitar Squadron Pilot{2x Advanced Proton Torpedo}(tie bomber)

Since you just started, do you have the ships already or are you making a list then going to go buy?

So you have 6 ships, which is a decent semi swarm list. You might want to swap out two of the adv torps for missiles since the torps are range 1 and you probably want to use your bomber as ordanance at long range. You'd want to use adv torps with major rhymer as his ability increases the range (just learned that from another thread)! A popular build with interceptors is a saber squadron with Push the limits to increase the amounts of actions for em.

Again, I've only played a few times as imps and am just starting to check out builds. Some others here probably have alot better imperial advise.

Looks solid, some good hitting power and enough ships to give you the numbers advantage. Only thing is I would swap one APT for a normal torp, and then upgrade the bomber to Gamma. That way on the first engagement you can move after the low lvl pilots (rookies, blues, Tie fighers/interceptors), get a target lock on them, then blast away at range 3. Then later you can focus on getting the APT off with TL and focus during the furball. Trying to get two APT would be very hard (even for a pro) without getting shot down first.

Just remember that your opponent will most likely go for your bomber first (who isn't scared of eating a APT to the face?) and then the interceptors. Use that to your advantage to be more aggressive with your fighters (either to block or range 1 shots).

Oh and you can name it the 3...2...1... list ;) Plus you can fly it kinda like that in formation. Sure sounds like it would look good.

I suggest you drop one of the torpedoes (you will be hard pressed to fire both before the Bomber is destroyed) and change the other torp to some kind of missile (Assault if you are facing a TIE swarm).

Use the points to make the Bomber a higher PS pilot or get a bomb (much easier to get off than a second torp).

If it were me, I would up those Interceptors to Saber and give them Push the Limit.

Thanks for the feedback, I do have all of those ships at the moment(well two are being shipped).

Right now I have 2 interceptors(will be 4 when the expansion comes out), 4 tie fighters, 2 tie advanced, 1 firespray

Do you have access to the "Tie Fighter Expansion"? That gives you Howlrunner, who is the best ship ever for Swarm fleets, but also for supporting your Firespray, if you ever want to use it.

She's a level 8 Tie Pilot that gives ALL allies at Range 1 of her the ability to re-roll 1 attack die on their primary weapon. On other tie fighters or bombers, that's half of a target lock, for free, en masse! On a firespray with gunner, that's a third of a target lock on BOTH ATTACKS.

She's nuts, and way undercosted at only 18 points.Oh, and she can pick up elite pilot talents, making her even crazier. Keep her for survival, as her damage is not through her own weapons.

The expansion also comes with Winged Gundark (who changed a hit to a crit at R1 for 15 points) and Backstabber (who gets an etra attack die when shooting outside the defender's firing arc, for 16).

Otherwise, see if the people you play with will let you proxy her in (i.e. use a different tie pilot and indicate it's howlrunner, with her actual stats on a piece of paper or something)
