How many rounds on day 1 of Worlds?

By El_Tonio, in X-Wing

I know on day 2 the top 8 play single elimination (which = 3 rounds).

But, about how many rounds will we likely play on day 1 in the process of getting to the top 8 (i.e., during the Swiss rounds)?

Seems like 4-5 would be enough with up to 128 players, maybe 5-6 if there is an especially good turnout.

Can anyone who was at the FFG event on May 4th+, or with experience at other well attended FFG events let us know what to expect?

Thanks!

May 4th we played 5 rounds on Saturday, cutting to top 8 on Sunday. There were 44 players.

North American Tournament had 84 players. We played 5 rounds, then cut to top 16, all played on the same, very, very long day.

I'm anticipating over 100 for Worlds, and it was my impression that it was going to be top 16 on Sunday, but I could be wrong. I would expect no less than 5 rounds on Saturday.

I am making assumptions here, but since they have stated "The Top 16 participants in the X-Wing World Championships will receive acrylic movement templates" I agree that it sounds like Sunday will be top 16.

Thanks, 5 rounds should work for well over 100 players if they are selecting the top 16 to play on Sunday. So, that would be 5 on Saturday, and up to 4 on Sunday. Helpful to know, thanks!

Not to go off topic, but does anyone know if they'll be making those movement templates for sale at a later date, or is it a participation prize only?
