Persistent PBF

By MosesofWar, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Like I said, it's really tailor-made for this sort of game.

Man... is it ever!

A great site for PBF gaming is roleplayinggames dot net - the same site where Darth Nightingale and myself run our games. FuzzyLog1c, being one of my players, will hopefully verify that it's a worthwhile place to run a campaign.

How is it setup? Would it be easy to do with 20+ people? Can you use BBCode?

And it appears there is a general consensus in interest in this type of game. We've got a couple of interested GMs as well so we'll be discussing how we're going to operate and I will keep everyone updated. If you're interested in helping us out , please feel free to send me a PM.

You can add as many people to your game board as you want. If you desire 20+ players, then it's feasible: you give them permissions to post on the forum, and they can do so.

I BELIEVE you can use BBCode; I know that HTML code is viable (it's what I've always used).

Also, if you were directing that bit about PMing to me: I can't PM on these boards (no idea why), but you can glance at my own board and see what kind of thing it is here: http://roleplayinggames.net/cgi-bin/mainboard.cgi?&board=109

Well, now there's a Twi'lek bum on my work computer. That'll be super-fun to explain.

I'm Darth Nightingale, and I approve this message as well. :) I do think http://roleplayinggames.net is probably the best candidate for this game. Even though it doesn't allow for multiple aliases, it does have an EotE dice roller built in to it.

This a great idea you have, Moses! I would love to be involved if at all possible. I would probably be better off running a PC because I'm still relatively new to the game and running multiple other PbP games elsewhere. If you have trouble getting enough GMs, you can put me down as a possible candidate.

I like this idea. I would absolutely be interested in playing, but this would be my first PbP game.

lol. Sorry; the picture was chosen because the group is currently on Nar Shaddaa, and the picture was a good representation of that fact.

And besides, it could have been worse: the alien butt showing could have belonged to a Hutt...

Hutt butt... My eyes might not work... but my imagination does. OMG!!!!! CURSE YOU!!!!!!!

Thought I'd share the love, Haley. ;)

I've sent out a couple of PMs to those that have shown interested in helping GM. We'll be discussing a couple of basics and operations. Once we get some of those down, we're going to move forward and open up the link to where we will be holding this game. With that being said, if there are any of you that are interested in GMing that I've missed, please let me know!

I would love to play in this format! I will also throw some art your way when needed!

I'm interested in participating. Played 4e D&D by forum a few times.

Is this an open offer? :D I would love it if I could find an artist willing to throw together some pictures for my game, possibly of the PCs, NPCs, or of scenes that have taken place.

I'd be interested in joining as a PC.

I currently GM for friends, but I'm secretly (overtly) jealous of them because the game looks crazy fun as a player :P

I think we'll have a pretty awesome and dedicated starting playerbase for this system. My goal is to have us, at least setup with a forum within the next 3-4 weeks. As I said, we've got a discussion going on with some very motivated and experienced GMs/players that are giving input to how we should operate. I'm going to keep everyone posted on where we're at at least once a week!

Will you be sending more invites out soon? I m very intrested

Hopefully we don't have to wait 3-4 weeks to get started on planning characters and backgrounds. Can you give us the details we'd need to begin creating? Setting & time period, major NPC groups, general thoughts on what's canon, etc.

I'll definitely let everyone know the basics shortly. We're fleshing out the House Rules right now with NPC groups and character creation. As soon was we've got those basics down, we'll let you all know so you can begin character creation (it won't be 3-4 weeks :) )

The setting for this game is immediately after the first Death Star is destroyed and will continue to operate between that and the Empire Strikes Back. We may decide to push the era forward if and when we incorporate Age of Rebellion rules.

Canon we will allow to be anything from this time period. Players may have or may interact with the main characters of the Star Wars galaxy during that time period, but they will not be able to influence the what occurs in the movies. An example may be, Jabba may have a job for a group of PCs and that group may run in to Boba Fett on a mission, but they won't be able to kill, maim or alter Boba Fett or Jabba's story arc or Star Wars destiny, such as killing Jabba or altering events so that Han Solo isn't frozen in Carbonite, for instance. They may compete with Boba Fett on a bounty hunt, or become one of Jabba's must trusted allies, but altering the course of the movies won't be allowed.

UPDATE: We have chosen RPOL.net to be the site for our game. Currently, we are setting up accounts with the site and we'll point you in the direction of where you'll need to go to sign up officially after the setup is complete.

Sounds great. I've got a droid mercenary soldier dreamed up and (almost) ready to go.

I thought you'd chosen roleplayinggames.net?

We're vastly limited on the scope we can have on roleplayinggames.net unfortunately, it's too much cross tracking and shifting players from one RP board to another. When speaking with the GMs it's just too much stress I'm willing to out on them. I like the features, but we plan on way more than 8 PCs... I'm hoping more for like 30+

Ah, fair enough. Good luck on RPOL.net then, mate!
