Wow, that will be ridiculously powerfull in combination with the Blade in the Dark spell, which is pretty sick to begin with. You can easily get 5 white dice to that check, even if you are at a pretty low rank - two for the weapon, one for the target being in shadow, one for a rank 1 spell specialisation, and one for a grey order specialisation. And with the grey staff, you get another two? That is quite crazy, methinks.

I have developed rules for a similar weapon to give to the rank 1 Grey Wizard in my party after completing his apprentice quest/practical exam for the college, but that one would be less powerfull. It would simply be a high quality hand weapon that gives one white die to channeling checks (not spellcraft), and would give the wielder the option of spending 1 power when using it for melee attacks or parrying to have the target suffer 1 stress as the blade is obscured by illusive magic.

I reckon the official one is more catered to high level characters.

What is the blade in the dark spell? Is it a grey wizard spell that I missed on the list?

No. it's from the core set. It's both a spell and a melee attack where the caster stabs into one shadow, and the sword comes out of another - a truly awesome mental image, methinks.

Ah, there it is :) Looks like a good spell!
