A Day In The Life...

West End Games didn't happen to release the Galaxy Guide 9 books as a pdf?

PDF? Man, we barely had the brand new Pentium microprocessor, let alone PDFs! We were still gaming on SNESes and surfing with the Mosaic browser. Oh, and Andre` the Giant had just died.

So git off my lawn! *continues rocking on porch with shotgun*

I miss Andre the Giant. I was never into wrestling, but he was a big hearted galoot and a great actor.

"In my day... Atari 600... 300 baud... barefoot in the snow..." lol

Jeez, now I feel old.

I remember all of that stuff quite well. I also had to ink/color my own dice too.

Don't forget Attack of the Clones cantina scene. There is a bank of screens showing various different sports.

May I ask... what kind of sports?

You want to feel old? Go read the Beloit College Mindset List - you'll be calling for your wheelchair within moments!

I would have to watch the scene again to identify all. The ones that come to mind were Pod racing, Some form of robotic Football or Rugby, some sort of creature, I think nuna, racing like horse racing.

I definetly recall EU characters reading books from holopads, Holovids and other broadcast news. There was of course opera of some sort in Revenge of the Sith.

Personally I'm playing a Bothan slicer addicted to glitterstim who watches holovid movies on fast forward.

Any game or sport you can imagine could be put through a star wars filter and placed on an outer rim planet. I would like to believe that somewhere in Star Wars Universe there would be a baseball type game played by battlebots that destroy each other as they run the bases. anyone remember what NES game that was?

While not completly on topic...

I really like that you, Pretty Haley, are looking for ways to add depth to your character in her off time.

At the end of a "mission" our GM gives us an approximation of how much time will elapse between the end of the mission and where we will pick up again.

We are then allowed to send him emails as to what we want our character to be doing during this down time. Sometimes he emails us with the "result", other times he gives us a piece of paper with how things went down when we get together again. On a few occasions he has allowed us a roll right when we get together and gives us the result in a cryptic tongue that only a person who had read the email (think Magic 8 Ball) would get. This adds so much to the story and can lead into so much more.

Every player at our table has something going on and not all the information is shared. It really does add to the story. Especially when one of the players starts the session with, "Guys, I think I may have screwed up."

If you happen to watch it in... ohh... before Friday, I would love to know what you see.

TYVM, Dex. :)

That idea sounds great. I think we kinda do the same thing but, seeing as my GM kinda lives with me, I just ask him stuff and sometimes it ends up in the next session's game. I know my brother does, too. I'm not sure about the other two players.

So far, no one's had to fess up to screwing up, though. I'm sure it'll happen!!!

Or... You could watch it. Don't you kids have all these movies already downloaded on your ipod tablet things? :P

D6 Holocron (website) has a great deal of the old WEG stuff. If you do a search with D6 Holocron and pdf along with the name of whatever book you're looking for, you might find it.

Sorry.. Hope I didn't sound like I was imposing on you. I can understand how it might have seemed that way but I didn't mean to.

Thanks, Daze. :) I was given the link to the file by someone else. I got it but it won't work for me. My brother mentioned it has no character recognition so it's just a picture book. I'll try working with the hard copy book from my dad's library.

So I rewatched the scene last night. It was only 3 screens and it was podracing, Droid football, and Nuna racing.

No, I was just making a joke, wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

Thanks, Machine.. I wish they showed more!

The words matched what my mom would say if I was asking her to do something she thought I could do so my mind gave it that tone. I just wanted to be sure.

Haley if you want sparkly Jedi romance novels or Jedi apprentice school books about a young Jedi named Harry. Then imagine it and roll with it. Nothing says you can't . Personally Iike the idea of a Rodian Autobiography from the 138th winner of Rodian Hunger Games.

Rodian hunger games! That's now a thing in my campaign.

Isn't it weird how the reviled 'Holiday Special' gives us a glimpse of the 'ordinary life' of the inhabitants of the SW world?

We do quite a bit of 'downtime' on our characters and it's interesting to think of what they do when they're not dodging blaster fire.

(I draw the line at sparkly jedi though :) Though I'm sure they had trashy teen fiction of some kind in a galaxy far, far away and a time long, long ago...)

In the Clone Wars Cartoon Season 5 Episode 8 we're introduced to a traveling carnival troupe that performs physical stunts and displays rare animals to Hondo and his pirate crew. They even have a Gamorrean clown. So visiting such a performances could lead to some rather interesting downtime in the Outer Rim. (New character concept right there... force sensitive Cirque Du Soleil member whose troupe has displeased a Hutt and is now on the run)
